The SS Hood????
Well im pretty sure im gonna be getting this hood here real soon but i was just wondering if anybody has had any problems with the SS hood like cracking and stuff like that. Cuz its cheaper than buying the original Iroc hood so i was just wondering if there was any downsides to it. Thanks

I have the ASCD SS Hood, had the same problem with the gap, but it was an easy fix, I just unscrewed the nose cover under the hood, pushed it up a bit, drilled new holes, and now it fits great.

Why is there such a big problem with that, why do they market something for our F bodies and it doesn't even fit correctly. Is it something incorrectable or are they just lazy bums?

The car is at a minimum 11 years old.........
Every car is different, it's not easy to build an aftermarket part that will fit EVERY single thirdgen out there perfect, especially when taking into consideration that some cars are not in the shape they were stock........

i have the same problem on mine but its really not a problem. the hood still looks bad *** and unless your looking right at it you cant even tell there is a gap. so long as it stays down i dont really mind. hey has anyone made a ram air box for that hood yet. i think it would help my little v6 i have under the ss hood lol let me know.

I had the big block stinger hood on my camaro. It had the same gap up front, and the corners would flap up and down at high speeds. I just added hood pins in the corner and it took care of the gap and the flaping. Hope that helps!

FLYINLOW92rs.....you can probably just lower your hood latch about an inch and the hood should come down flush to the nose. there's a screw in the front of the hood latch that just raises it up and down. i had that problem on my big block hood and it took at most 45 seconds to fix

Mine fits pretty well....just a little bit of a gap on the drivers sided between the nose and the hood....not real noticable though..

hey guys.. just a thought.. but maybe you've already thought of it...
since you guys with the TPI's.. and SS hoods.. why not take advantage of the cool air comming in and use the opening for your ram air intake?
if you look at the 96-97 SS cars.. they have the special induction system that puts a K&N filter in a open box that sits on top of the intake manifold.. and a prebent tube going into the throttle body.
would this not work? or have some one tried it and failed? i would assume also if you are using a LT1 intake(or have an LT1 engine) that is would be very feasable because the intake sits alot lower than the TPI..
just wondering.. cause thats what i am gonna do.. the way i see it.. why have an open scoop thats not being used, and waste $500? but thats just me... i dont mean to flame or anything.

I wish we could do that.....there is not much room at all for any kind of air box that would fit in front or even around the Throttle Body.......it would be nice if someone could produce something like that....but..so far....noone has.....

Rex Orr from ASCD is selling them now for $435 plus shipping, which is a good a deal as you'll find anywhere (unless you get the sale price from hawks). i got a big block hood from Rex....his stuff is amazing quality and fit....you should go with him....post a topic asking for people that thought he did a bad job on their hood, you won't get a single one
edit: shipping to your door is $80....i got mine 35 hours after i had placed my order
