ATTN anyone who has added ground effects

I have a whole set of 85-90 T/A ground effects which I have been meaning to put on my car for a while now. The main thing I'm unsure of is drilling the holes for the side skirts, as well as putting on the metal supports for the rocker skirts. How should I go about drilling the holes for the fender/quarter skirts? Also, how should I attach the metal support pieces for the rocker skirts? I have access to a MIG welder, should I just weld them in place?

I have the same set of gfx that you do, and i am basically doing the same thing. The back quarter panel all i did was to take a piece of cardboard and push it in there flat with the bolts sticking through the cardboard, and cut it to fit, as if it is the car and the piece is sitting flush with it. Then take the cardboard and a black marker, and mark through the holes in the cardboard onto the panel where your holes are going to be. When you drill it out, I would use a bit about 2 times as big as what you need, so you have some room to play with. Put it in there, and then start wiggling, and reaming and playing with it like that. As far as the rocker panel gfx is concerned, I am not sure what I am going to do as far as that goes, because I got mine off of a TA in a junkyard, and had to leave because they were going to lunch, so I didn't get the support pieces. I am probably going to fab up something, or get some other pieces for the doors, I am not sure yet. Let me know what you do decide to do on that, though, because if you have to fab something, I would really appreciate a copy of the measurements, and how you did it.

I have a parts car I can take the supports off of, but they're spot welded on. I think I can just drill out the spot welds and then weld the supports to my rockers. Thats probably what I'll end up doing.

i did the conversion from 91-91 to 85-90, so not quite as extensive. i believe the rocker supports will need to be welded, and i would recommend putting them on. most of the rest of it is drilling. put on a bumper first, that will help you align things. the doors can help too. that way you're not guessing as to how high to drill. just put the gfx piece against the car where it should go, and drill where the bolts make little scratches in the paint.

WHEN YOU DRILL PAINT THE HOLES (you can tape off and use clear for things near the edges of the GFX, but make sure those holes don't rust)

I was thinking of using some clear silicone sealant on the bolts and holes. I saw this trick on shadetree mechanic when they added ground effects to a cavalier or something.
