Did my LED Gauges!!!

I did my gauges yesterday and checked them out last night. They came out great. Just so you all know I used 2 10,000 mcd bulbs per socket. I had 2 burn out on my due to a crappy wiring job on my part so I have to redo them this week but it still looks great how it is.
I'm going to post some pics hopefully tonight. By the way how do I upload a pic to the site if it's not on a website?
Also anyone who's done the lights for the HVAC controls or the shifter light please let me know how to go about doing it. Isn't the bulb just plugged right into the harness in both of these?

Finally I have about 30 bulbs leftover from the project so if anyone wants to buy some or all of them off me let me know via e-mail ASAP.

Ok here's the only somewhat decent pic I have so far. They are a lot brighter than in the pic. I don't know why it came out so bad...I turned the flash off.

From the pic you gave, looks like it turned out good....I am planning to do the same thing with my 86 Iroc, so how long did it take you, how many bulbs, and finally how easy was the project? Thanks in advance.

Paul-

Looks awesome. I want to do the same with my IROC eventually, but I'll probably get the bulbs with the LEDs already in there. Did you do it the same way as the other guy who put LEDs in his sockets (with a resistor and everything)?

BTW- I brightened up the pic a little for ya, thats about as good as I can get it.

Golden- The project took about 4 or 5 hours and that was after a full day of work. I used 2 10,000 mcd bulbs per socket and I'm thinking about going back to use 3 instead just to make it a little brighter. What I'm going to do is put 3 into the ones that I accidently burned out and see how they look compared to the rest. The project wasn't really that bad...only thing I would improve on is trying to shield the wires somehow so they can't short out against each other if they get moved around at all.

89 IROC-Z- I actually got the bulbs off of some guy on ebay. I couldn't find the 10,000 mcd ones anywhere else online or in any of my local electronic supply stores. They didn't have a part number on the package either. I do have about 20 left though if you are interested. You could probably do 9 sockets with 2 bulbs and 2 with singles. You can put the singles in the corners or up by the fuel, water, and battery gauges since those bulbs are so close together. I have a few right now with only single bulbs since I burnt a few out and you can't tell the difference. If you want them send me a PM or e-mail.

Metallicamaro RS- thanks for the compliment and for brightening the picture. I did do my the way they said in the tech article because I heard that the ones that are premade are not as bright.

Yeah those are the direct plug ins in that link. I've heard they aren't as bright as the DIY ones, but I'm still curious to see how bright they are. If they are quite a bit brighter than stock I'd like to maybe put them in my tail, brake, sidemarker, and turn signal lights.

question

How did you do that, did you just replace them in the original sockets or is there alot of wiring involved? If there is no wiring involved i will take some of those bulbs. I think it looks nice also. Thanks Richard.

Thanks for the compliments. 89droptop....there is very little wiring involved. As long as you can use a soldering iron then you shouldn't have any trouble.

Hey Nik let me know if you're going to be in the central Jersey area anytime soon. I have a friend who is thinking of putting red LED's into his 78 Formula and I'd like to see yours so I can tell him how they will look when he's done.

hey paul i have my EMT class up at Bergen County training facility in mahwah every monday-thursday. If you're up around that area we could always meet up before my class or afterwards, either is cool with me. I usually get to class at 6:30 and it finishes at 10:30 so if you wanna meet up just let me know. The only days i'm free at night is the weekend. Whenever you wanna meet up just shoot me a PM or email me.
