Finally painted my fender!
I had a fender to replace the damaged one on my car for over a year and a half now, and I finally got off my lazy **** and painted it:
I live out in the sticks, so the second picture has dust on it.
For any DIY'ers that want to paint at home like I did, here is what I used:
Its got 4 coats of Omni BLACK color coats, and two coats of Omni Clear. It was sprayed with a gravity fed HVLP gun, 43 PSI inlet pressure. Little defects were wet sanded with 2000 Grit and buffed out with 3M Machine polish using a Meguires W-8000 foam pad @ 1500 RPM, then hit with 3M swirl mark remover using a Meguires W-9000 foam pad @ 1500 RPM.

I'd be glad to chat over PMs, but I'm not a professional body person, and you'll gain the benefit of the groups experience by posting here instead. Its up to you.

I would like some advice too. This concerns wet sanding: Would it be a good idea to use 2000 grit with a "mouse" type sander, or should I just do it by hand. I've got to have this car finished by tomorrow, and the hand process is very time consuming. Would that affect the buffing outcome if I used a sander instead of a rubber block? Any info appreciated.

If you want to use something other than "elbow grease" to wet sand, I'll tell you what, 3M makes an AWESOME product. Its a 6" velcro sanding disc to attach to a DA. Its not really sandpaper, and its like 3000 grit. You just velcro it to your DA, run the water hose and have at it. Its GREAT. I don't personally own one, but the detail shop across the street from our dealership does. Next time I go to the paint store, I'll inquire about them.

Some people are like slinkies... Thanks I needed that! Reminds me of the time when my partner fell out the window of a house we were working on.
The fender looks good!
