Is there any company that makes roll bars are small 4 or 6 point cages for our cars. I am trying to find a cage that will let me still use my back seats. I want to add the cage to help strengthen the frame and make it safer in case of an accident. I did some searching but almost every cage I say was custom built or they had a bar going across the back seat area.

I looked for the very same thing a while back as I don't wish to make the back seats inaccessible and don't wish the diagonal bars adjacent to the front seats/door cards. Unfortunately I couldn't find any companies that sell one 'off the shelf' that fitted with my specifications.

I have not found anyone who makes cages for our cars. I am not really looking for a cage that passes NHRA rules; it would be an added benefit if it did, but I just want something to add safety to my car. I am not planning on drag racing my car; maybe take it to the track once a year or something for fun.

Hey man.. I didnt know you were talking about that Pic in my other post.

That is a Kenny Brown cage... almost $600 and not NHRA legal.

The one I PMed you about was the 8 point Comp. Eng one Im puting in my convertable.

check with "swracecars.com", they have a large variety of cages/roll bars for our cars and they're pretty cheap too, also they are nhra legal.

a 4 point would be the Main Hoop and the back bars. if your worried about back seat entrance Just leave the cross bar out of what ever you get.

Why not do a 6point with atleast swing out side cars.

Good Idea but will the bars that go back be to low for someone to sit in the back?

What do you mean by this, I don't know much about cages.


I really like the Kenwood cage because it bolts together so you can take it out of the car if ever needed, which would be nice when doing interior wok or something. In addition, the back bars are bended for more rear passenger clearance. However, the cost is out of my price range.

those kits are designed for strength,why would you leave any of it out? If your lookin for safety and not just the "look" then id go with the welded cages not the bolt together ones

my cage doesn't have a bar across the backseats but i don't know where you can get one, mine was installed by guldstrand back in 1983

From the should of It your not really wanting a cage for NHRA qualifications. Why not just do just like the last pic Vettetrax posted.

Swing out side bars is a option for the 2 bars that go from the Main hoop to the front floorboard. They have a pin you can pull out and the bar swings open.

i still don't understand why anyone would want just the look. they are designed for safety. putting one in just for looks would just make it difficult to get into the car and have no safe attributes.

TPl383: good thinking that is definitely the cheapest way to go. I guess you could put the rear bar to go like the picture above with the summit kit.

I am going to do a lot more research before I decide on one. The leaning towards the summit cage because of cost. I really wish I could get a similar front two bars like the Kenny Brown cage and attach them to the summit cage.

I am not going just for look. A bolt in cage will help with safety, not as much as a weld in one true but it will still help. I want added safety and still be able to put 4 people in my car. I am in college and I routinely drive more then 1 passenger around.

Well, put tons of padding on those bars and make your passengers wear helmets

Speaking from experience, I'd rather rap my head against the plastic interior rather than some cold unforgiving steel.

If your not worried about NHRA regulation do this...



get the 6point cage from CE. and just put the swing out gussets on the both sides of the bars you would want to remove. Easy as that..

The back bar that goes across the seat. so you cant take it out.

another thing. You can always mount the Side bars that go past the seats as Low as you want for easy acess in if you dont do the pins to swing em out.

OK, for that main hoop one from summit, it says its made of
1 3/4" tubing, is it me or is that super pinner!!! Is that safe at all!!??

Is this the same thickness as the one VetteTrax has in his car???

OK but stop to look at Vettetrax's roll bar, now i cant see the thickness of his bar as 1 3/4"... more like 2 1/2". It just seems to me like it would look a little too pinnerish...

Yes his Looks larger od diamater but that doesnt mean Its Thicker material used.
