? difference btween 3rd & 4th gen pwr seat track

What is the difference between 3rd & 4th gen powerseat tracks?
Does the 4th gen pwr seat track have wiring from the seat (to a wiring harness)?
How would you install in a 3rd gen????
Thanks

i don't know if this helps but....

i have a 92 Z28, didn't have power seats

i got 4th gen power seats. on the end there is a little socket.

i ran a wire from my fusebox to the red wire, which is power, and a ground to the black, and they work fine

You really need the connector side from the wiring harness. Than I just took the cigarette lighter power, since I dont let anyone smoke in my car, and it works fine.

We have a set we just pulled out of my brother's girlfriends 85 Z28 that are power. I can check later, but it seems that the older style has a diffrent actulator setup, and is positioned diffrently ( actulator that is) than the fourth gen. I know that from far away, it looks diffrent. But I will check

Actually it goes back several inches over a stock thirdgen. I have 95 Z28 seats and it easily went back I would say right at 2". I am 6'2" and a big guy getting into most thirdgen seats is not fun, but as soon as I put the 4th gen seats in the chair went alot farther back. The thirdgen seats seems to stop over the bolts, while the 4th gen seats you have to push a great distance forward to get to the bolts to remove the seats. I really like the 4th gen seats and right now I am having them redone in red and black leather to fit the color scheme of the car.
