Anybody know what to use to fix cracked plastic dashboard??
In between the instrument pod and the radio/heater control pod I have a small crack in the dash. I'm going to be painting the dash with black fusion paint so I don't mind fixing it. I need to know what would be the best thing to use to fix it.

My dash has a few small cracks too that I want to fix. I'm guessing there has to be some kind of epoxy that will work. Maybe even something somewhat flexible that can be painted. The only thing I'm not sure of is how to make it blend with all of the other plastic since it's textured. Let me know if you find anything.

This is a quick fix, that if you take your time, will work out real well. Take the dash off, theres a line of screws on the bottom of the dash and then (I think) 4 more in the vent area on top. Take it out of the car, go to the parts shop and pick up something called duraglass, this is basically a glass reinforced bondo, only without the hairs. Dig out the cracks, sort of make a little trench out them, then bondo them up, and sand them flat. Go to an upholstery joint, or possibly a material store and pick up some vinyl in the desired color. Go back to the store, pick up some 3m spray adhesive and, very carefully, spray both the dash and the bottom of the material. Stretch ( alittle stretch goes a long way) the material over the dash and fold it over the side, working out the wrinkles. Let it set overnight, go out the next day and cut/glue in the hole for the vents. You may also want to glue the material that is lapped over the side as well. Now, there is another option, before you glue the dash pad, you can hose it down with 3m chip-guard (also known as space-barf) this will give the whole dash a grain and further hide any body work. You can also use the material to do this as well. Now if you do this right, you'll have about $25 in the project, and it will look great. By the way, if you need to clean the glue off, use lacquer thinner. -good luck with it.
