Made some custom emblems...
Well, I finally have 'em done. 2 Rocker emblems, and my rear bumper emblem.
The rocker emblems look pretty "stock", but they're home made. Sorta. I work at a sign shop, so the actual lettering is just a gold metalic vinyl decal applied to a piece of black plexiglass that has been cut to shape and polished. I have a friend who has an epoxy/doming kit that we used to apply the clear "dome" effect. It woulda cost more than the actual "new" emblems, but it free for me!
The bumper emblem is obviously not stock. I like the sound of cubes over liters, so...well....it's pretty obvious. I also like the "TPI" initials, so I made those letters silver instead of the gold. Again, it's vinyl graphics applied to plexi. This time I applied the graphics behind clear plexi and polished the edges. I covered the entire back of the plexi with red to match the bumper so you will not see any adhesive once it's on the car.
What do you guys think? I like the stock look, but I wanted to tweak it just a little.

I like them. Looks awesome.
I need to have some made for my Trans Am since I have Camaro rockers on my car.

I was going to make some custom ones myself, with a different method. I was gonna make a cardboard template, and then fiberglass over it, sand it smooth, and use a stencil to paint the emblem in, and then give it a heavy coat of clear. Still haven't decided if I want to do that or not though.... Yours look great and are a hell of a lot easier to make from the sounds of it.

John, you could always just put something on the back of the clear, and then paint the back black. That's more less how I did the bumper emblem. The guy with that doming kit owed me a favor, but if not for that, all 3 woulda been on the back of the clear plexi.

Abubaca,
your right, I guess I was thinking inside the box...
although, by putting it between two layers of plastic I would protect it, so if I had to remove the emblem it would be less likely to be ruined... 6 one way half dozen the other, save time by not making the extra piece tho...
Actually it would be easier your way, by just using the clear plastic, if it gets ruined it would be easeir to replace...
just thinking out loud...
thanks...

I could find out how to get it, but I know it runs about $300 bucks.
It's just a epoxy/glue "like" gook, that just pours over the vinyl decal, but when applied carefully, doesn't go over the edge.
Dries to the touch in a few hours, but need to cure for about 5 days.

emblems are very easy to make, just get an old set from a junkyard or use what you have and take off everything on them. clean them up and have a print shop make what you want them to say and have them size it so it fits on the plastic. have them reverse print them and stick them on. simple as that, i made some what letter RS ones for mine.....www.hometown.aol.com/pillsbry10/Intro.html
