hatch rattles are going to be the end of me

I believe the hatch on my '91 TA is rattling more due to the pull-down fix my friend and I were so proud of. Because I could not afford a $300 replacement or wanted to risk $150 for a junker piece, I decided to follow suit with a couple other people and make the pull down motor stationary at the right level; by drilling and installing screwes along the rails/guides. Would this cause the hatch to rattle significantly more than a stock pull-down set-up? I see no difference if the hatch is secured and locked. The rattling is going to be the end of me!

Anything that rattles in my car, was fixed with double sided tape.
