Should I paint my Spoiler?
I'm thinking bout painting my spoiler, its a 89 Formula rubber wrap around one. When the car got painted before the previous owner didn't have it painter maui blue to match the rest of the car cause he figured the paint on the spoiler would peel which I've seen alot of them do. I'm thinking bout either painting it black, dark blue or maui blue to match the rest of the car. These guy's at paintmaster's (smart guys) told me that they could add a nice flex agent and agent to apply before I painted it that would open up the pours so the paint would never peel. What you guy's think? I'm attaching a pic of my car.

I would definitely paint it to match the rest of the car. Your car looks great but I honestly think the black spoiler is a real eye sore. If it were mine, I would rather touch up cracks, (if the flex agent didnt work) than leave it black.

I have the same philosophy as far me taking a bath, I might do like the cats do when they bathe themselves and lick myself clean.

you don't have to get wise with me i'm just telling him from my what was done to my car. so yea go paint your spoiler and then have it crack and chip all over and have it 2 different colors and have it look worse then what everyone is complaning about.

I would paint it. The whole it will crack and peel thing is inevitable. Our rubber spoilers are just a poor design. Mines starting to crack now.
Best thing to do is wait until the thing is falling apart and spring for a fiberglass replacement. If your car was painted without the spoiler the paint on the spoiler will come off and not hurt your cars paint job.
If I were you I would paint it. Then replace it later if need be. If the spoiler is in good shape with no cracks now you should get a couple good years out of it.

Yeah I think I will paint it when I get the chance. I really am not a fan of this spoiler as is. I found a 91 TA spoiler and it was gone last tiem i went to the yard. And same with a 4th gen one. I have no luck with these spoilers. When I have some money after I move to Florida in august I will take a look around there and see what I can find. I think down there I might have a better chance to finding a nice one.

If you do get it painted, get a warrentee I know when I got some work done it was either a life time warrentee on the paint or 10yrs, dont remember this way if it does start cracking they will re-do it for free. IMHO I dont think it looks bad at all, kinda ties into the rubber bumpers so it doesnt look too out of place, but might be diff in person

personally i would paint it. i have an 88 formula 350 and the paint on my spoiler is cracking too, looks bad but im gunna leave it until i get it painted, then ill sand it or replace it or whatever it may need be, the way it looks now looks to kinda ***** like the hondas that drive around with primered decals, someone who knows about firebirds could just think that u have a regular firebird and tryin to pass it off as a formula....just my 2 cents
