Repack seats

Hi all...
My driverside GTA front seat is quite worn. THe outside looks mint but there is barely any padding left and I'm tired or sitting on what feels like metal.

Is there a way to get in there and pack in some foam without having to cut/stich the seats? THey are not leather, but do have the power lumbar and side support.

I know they sell just foam kits for our cars--but I've never done it myself. I guess if you've messed w/hog rings and the hog ring tool before you'd be ahead of the game.
you'd have to disassemble the complete seat bottom w/the tool.
sorry I can't be of more help--but I don't think it would be that hard to do.

not hard if you have patience, my friend bought a set of 4th gen seats and he re-paded them himself, he stuffed the living crapout of the bolsters.

I did something of the sort back in 2000...

My seats were completely shot; not only was the padding gone, but the covers were ripped to hell on the sides. I couldn't find replacements in junkyards anywhere. I finally found out that I had trans am seats (two tone, dark gray center, light gray on edges), and that's probably why I couldn't find -my- seats again! So I started looking in other GM cars (Cavaliers, Berettas, etc) for seats. One day, I walked by a Pontiac 6000 Station Wagon S/E. Thought of high school, and how my buddy rodded the hell out of a Pontiac 6000 4-door, so I walked over to get nostalgic- and saw my seats!!

They were in mint condition! Got 'em for $10/each... and, three problems. 1, had to swap the rails, no biggie. 2, no clip on the side of the headrests, no biggie, because the holes were under the fabric! (Found 'em with a pin.) 3, since it was a 4-door wagon, the seats didn't tilt forward. Uh oh..

Flipped the seats over, I was able to unclip some of the hog rings with regular pliers to get at the sides of the seats- and just as I hoped, the holes were there for the tilt-forward mechanism from my old seats.

So all this talking comes down to - yes, you could probably do it. My seats had a zipper down the back, in addition to the hog rings on the bottom of the seat. Also, the fabric had some kind of velcro thing going on for the seatback. It was how GM made the fabric "Dent in" to form lines on the seatback. Anyway, if you get into it, you'll see what I mean. Good luck!

Oh and fast forward to summer of 2002... and guess what? Yep, the fabric ripped AGAIN, in the same damn spot, on the side of the drivers seat. So I'm on a seat hunt again...

There's alot of GM seats that are the same as F-body seats-so you just have to look in EVERYTHING!!

I used fairly sturdy foam from a couch cushion, and glued a piece on using spray carpet foam, then trimmed it to shape.
