Wipers- no park

Just bought this 1987 Sport Coupe last week and the wipers don't park correctly. As a matter of fact the wipers don't work when you turn on the wiper switch. However if you twist the washer switch the pump works and the wipers stroke as they should but then park a couple of inches above where they should. I'd appreciate suggestions.

Hey,

Thanks for the suggestion, checked fuses and all are okay, I don't think it a power supply problem because when you use the washer lever the wipers do work and then they park out of place. But the wipers by themselves won't work at all.

hummm...the turn signal/wiper thing might be bad (is there a name for that thing??) but i really doubt it, im not sure about that seems odd..i do know what u mean by they arent parking correctly, my camaro does that sometimes, the windshield wiper motor cant be bad if they move now, does the washer always work or just sometimes? if it doesnt work sometimes the its possible it could be the wiper motor, but the wipers without washer would work sometimes to...maybe someone else will pop in with a suggestion

Yeah I'm kind of puzzled as well. The washer set up works eveytime but the wipers by themselves never.

Well, my car does this too! Wipers no workey when the wiper switch is used, but if I push the washer tab they wipers will come out of park and wipe. To get them back into park, I stop the wipers before coming all the way down, then slightly tap the washer tab in until they want to park, sometimes it'll take a few times.

My 2 cents is that the turn signal switch is bad, or at least the end of it where the washer switch is located. I'm trying to find a new one, but have been unsuccessful so far.

Yeah,

I've owned three 1987 Camaros and the first I had wiper trouble and it was just the ground. The second I had no trouble with, this one all trouble wiper wise. I e mailed the guys over at 3rd gen tech at WCA, they say replace the motor.

Well I went and got a rebuilt motor and replaced it but had to use my circut board and cover. Put it on same thing. Went to boneyard and bought a complete used motor, wouldn't work at all. Someone had been into it and took the two contacts out. even when I changed mine in it wouldn't work. Took it back and got another complete used one and it won't aprk right or wipe unless it's with the washer. Then I went and bought a new control stalk with the wiper and cruise and turn signal set up and it didn't help either. I understand there's a switch for the wipers in the column, I guess I've replaced everything else. Has anyone changed the wiper switch itself?
