Custom Flame Door Panels

Well, here's a project I've been working/thinking about for the past few weeks. I'm a few weekends away from finishing it though. Anyway, here's the link to the page about it. It's pretty much self-explanitory.

i've also wanted to do this for a while. can you just explain what panel that rope is glued to? Did you use the stock panel or did you fab up your own. and also are you filling in the space between the flames or are you just going to have it as the ouline of the flames, and lastly what will you be cover the door panel with? looks great so far

1) I used the stock backings... they have a bit of water damage on the backs, but they will be fine.
2) I am leaving the space between the panels, just using the rope as an outline, similar to this:

I am going to try to cover the panel with stock material, such as the seat material, or the vynyl(spelling??).

One thing that I think is going to create a problem is the fact that I didn't save any of the foam backing, or didn't put any on under the rope, so the material will be glued to the paper backing. This is going to show any imperfections and bumps, where the foam would have covered those up. I guess we'll see how it turns out though.
