hit and run (parked) ..anyone with helpful experince???

got a call from the campus police....some girl backed into my car and drove off in the parking garage. 2 witnesses, got her plate, cop says they know her info.

anyways, damage seems to be paint deep only..rear bumber cover. paint is "cracked" and falling off ....SO SHOULD I GET THE WHOLE BUMPER COVER PAINTED?? should i get it stripped first?? seems if i dont, the paint will just fall off.

i dont really know much about accidents or insurance, so i think what i want is advice from anyone with experience in this area.

that's great that there were witnesses and they know who did it. i would say have the body shop repaint the whole bumper. don't know if you would need to have the whole thing stripped, but i guess it couldn't hurt.

You'll have to remove the cover and check to make sure the bumper support isn't damaged. The bumper cover will have to be stripped/sanded in the affected area to make sure that paint will adhere without cracking down the road.

You'll probably have to go get a couple estimates done, and then take those and file a claim against the girl's insurance.

People that hit and run shouldn't be allowed to drive. Their driver's licenses should be revoked on the spot.

GL!

Get the Girl's insurance and claim settled first then worry about painting. My opinion.

Yes there is a "flex" additive that needs to be added to any of the paint (primer, base color, clear coat etc.).

EXACT SAME thing happened to me a few months ago, guy smashed in my front right side in, busted up my front, and pushed in my lower GFX(spidered to hell.)

2 witnesses, both got tag number, i filed a hit and run report on it, and cops are investigating now. Should have word monday.

One thing i WILL tell you, cops are not insurance. They will NOT fix your car, all they will do is enforce the law and charge the person responsible for the action. Now it will help to call insurance and go look some girl hit my car in the parking lot and i wasnt in it, and cops are investigating it now. Or you can wait till the cops get back to you, and they will have the persons insurance numbers and what not.

long story short, im waiting till cops lemme know what the deal is, then insurance will know.

I could care less about charging people with hit and run, i just want my ****in car fixed, looks like a pos....
