ATTN: PPL who installed their own carpet

Im thinking of whether to install unmolded carpet into my car myself of letting a proffesional do it. It would cost me 300 CDN for the guy to do it and for me just the cost of material. However, Im not sure how hard it is to do. The hardest part would be cutting out the holes for the seats and such I imagine.
The general idea(I beleive) is removing the seats, the bottom interior panels, and just stripping the carpet. Then after that just laying in the already cut carpet and glueing it in.

Did you guys have a hard time doing it?

The hardest part is gonna be laying it all flat and making sure there arent any bubbles. Just take your time and it will turn out fine.

I did my own carpet, and bought the one piece molded from jcwhitney, but it would have been MUCH easier if i would have bought like a two piece carpet set.....it isnt too bad once you get the seats and console out. as for the bolts, leave them on the thread, and when you lay down the carpet, with a blade, cut about a half inch (in length) slit over top, then just push down on the carpet and it will pop right through, evenly....good luck and post pics when its done...

I tried to do this before I got my molded carpet, it came out fair but it didn't take me long to go out and buy the right stuff (molded) for the car. in my opinion don't do it, just save up some money and buy the proper stuff, if you don't you'll just be redoing it in a few months anyway, and despite what anybody says, removing basically everything on the interior (seats, console, trim panels,etc.,etc. is too big of a PITA to be doing it twice because you couldn't wait for the money to do it right. trust me I know !!!!

I bought unmolded carpet for my convertible. It was a PITA, definetly NOT worth all the effort for the crappy results. I should of kept the original stained up, nasty looking carpet in.

Get molded carpet or have a professional put the unmolded carpet in. The only way you are going to get unmolded carpet to look right is if you do it right, which requires cutting and sewing seams to get the carpet to lay right over different areas of the car. You can get unmolded carpet and just put it down in there and expect it to look good.

Molded carpet is so expensive... Especially when there are no dealers around here to sell it, shipping is bad. I will most likely buy unmolded, take BTS88IROCs advice, and get a pro to do it. Its a gamble, but the price is right.
