Broken Seats?
The front seatbacks on my camaro dont lock in the back position. They move forward and back without needing to pull a lever. Is this normal?

ive had an 82 camaro, an 85 camaro and a 91 firebird that all didnt lock... but i am pretty darn sure that they are supposed to lock when working properly... at least it doesnt just flop into the back seat, eh?

Same problem with my car. I haven't ever seen one that does work. I'm sure that if you took apart your seat you could find a way to fix them. Friends 82 Camaro doesnt work, my 89 bird didn't work, and neither does my 88 TA.

Car: Trans am
the ones in my 85 trans am dont work either. i was reading in the service manual for my car that if something like that is broke the whole reclining mechanism needs to be replaced. i would like to know if theirs a way to fix this. i wanna keep the stock seats but i dont like having the seats flop around, it unsafe.

I've had two that have the same problem. They don't lock in the back position. It isn't a problem at all. I've just gotten used to it. Actually, I think I prefer no lock. Sometimes they do catch me off guard and unexpectedly lock though. But, no matter what, it's better than when my seat wouldn't lock in the upright position and did flop back into the rear seat.

I must have been lucky, both of my thirdgen's back seats locked. The hatch motors in both are toast though.
