Power Seat?

I want 4th gn seats in my 3rd gen camaro. Right now i have no power seat and all the 4th gen seats i find that i like are power. How hard is it to add the power option?, and what would i need to do? or can i just use the power seats without the power?

well if you use the power seats with out the power you wouldn't be able to adjust them/ move them or what ever you want to call it. would should be able to run wires to give them power but i'm not quite sure on how you would do that but good luck doing it and when you get it done post pics.

From a 3rd gen to a 3rdgen is EASY to run wires... I would assume that it would be similar to to a 4th gen, but I do not know about the plugs under the dash.

1) remove the seat (unplug power & whatever)
2) remove the carpet trim under the door
3) Raise up the carpet and you will see the wires
4) Pull the wires from under the carpet
5) remove the 7mm or 1/4" screw holding the ground under the seat
6) pop the wire loom with a screwdriver
7) follow the power wire to the left side of under the dash
8) unplug the power wire from the distribution box (do not confuse with fuse box)

to install do the opposite, you should have the slice in the carpet

hope that helps

Should you not wish to mess with the power, can you simply swap the 4th gen seats to the seat rails of your 3rd gen (and thus make them manual)?

I know with the "Ultima" seats that came in the GTA's and were optional on the T/A & possibly the Formula, you could not use the standard track because pump box would be in the way, to fix this they used a different track assembly for the lumbar/bolster seat.

Just to confuse the issue more, I swapped the L/S Conteur seat (Camaro), which has adjustable thigh, seat bolsters, lumbar, and back bolsters, on to the standard track with no difficulty. I doubt that it made a difference, but both Conteur and standard seat were power operated.

If you don't want power seats, don't buy power 4th gens. The seats and tracks are all one unit; if you don't hook up the power, you won't be able to move the seats. Did you do a search on this before posting? It's been well covered on here....I know I've added to at least 3 or 4 posts on it in just the last couple of weeks alone, at least one on hooking up power 4th gens to a non-power 3rd gen. Briefly... the power seats use a 2 wire hook up. One hot, one ground. Its easier if you can get the wiring harness out of the donor car, or at least cut it off with the plug to the seats intact, but if not, you can make your own out of any 2 wire connector. Run the ground to the seat mounting bolt and the hot lead to any available slot in your fusebox. I added an in-line fuse to my hot lead for protection.

Is there a difference in the height of the seat bottoms comparing a 3rd gen to a 4th gen. ? Will I be closer to the roof of the car in 4th gen seats?

From the floor to the top of the seat bottom---Is the 4th gen seat higher? Will I have the same amount of headroom in a 4th gen seat compared to a 3rd gen? Thanks

How do you rate the comfort level? Are they much more comfortable? Do they give you more room and do they push on you bottom end (a--). I would like a little more sitting room not that I am too big on the rear end, but it would be more comfortable. Thanks in advance. I really would like a set.
