Im not trying to be rude or anything but use the friggen search button. This topic and the HSR install gotta be the 2 most talked about subjects on this board.
I have put a 4th gen dash and console in. what I had to do cannot be explained in detail here and YES mods where nessesary for it to fit right. Let just say it takes a little massaging to get it in there and look right. The best install Ive seen is Custom X's. The red and black look tuff

For example, lets say I posted a pic of an LT5 motor in my garage, for all they know, it could be anyones garage and the image probably came from the internet somewhere.
If you put a penny in the picture, it will show that you or someone on that board took that pic.
I'd tell you the site, but Rule #1 is to not talk about OT on sites other than OT.

Coudlnt get mine to sit right. the guage cluster area just sits too high and the pad 's contour wasnt steep enough to look good imo so now im still playignb with a fibreglass/bondo peice.

ya its plastic but the contour is different from the 96-93 pads. The pad actually sits on top of the cluster area, where as the 96-93's cluster area is its own peice for the most part and goes down to meet the where the pad would be.
Kinda hard to explain leme see if i got pics or hell ill just go take a pic maybe lol.

The 93-96 dashes are all the same so it dont matter on them. The only slight differnece in them is the 93 gauge cluster has yellow numbers instead of white like all the 94 and newers. Gm changed the design of the camaro dash in 97, which is the style that Custom X has. I doubt that 1 is any harder to install then the other. So its your styling choice on which one you think looks better.
Oh ya the 93-96 gauge cluster is easier to splice into our 3rd gens. Custom X can explain his setbacks with his fuel gauge and stuff.

the 93-96 dashes are the same. the change came in the 97 model yr (last lt1 yr, but new interior, kinda liek the 90 thirdgens).
The ls1 cluster has a cpl issues you have to over come:
Fuel Gauge being comp controlled.
Tach is calibrated for a 4cyl
Both can be solved but requires extra parts.
Its pretty much what you liek best, althoughn it seems the 93-96 dashpad is a much better fit then the 97-02's.

yes the plastic dash piece has to be trimed and cut to fit, i used a skill saw with very fine tpi on blades, and went slow, bucuase it will crack if your not carefull, as far as the guages, im not sure what i want to do there yet .

yes i did, but have not got them working, since i had no motor in the car, but to be honest im not to thrilled with my own gauge work, so after i get the motor in and all, i might just start tracing all the wires, and put in electronic gauges, , either way im still undecided on what to do, right now im working on my 383 , after its been in the freaking shop for 2 and half years,

I am pretty set on putting a 98+ firebird dash in my 1991 z, just love the looks of it. I like the gauge cluster you have think it's a 1997. Year doens't really matter but want one with that look and one that looks good to install. So if i do go with the 98 dash what gauges you think I should use.
