Can u Convert power windows to manual?
I want to change my power windows to manual. I know the regulator and motor is riveted in, so thats no problem, but does the manual assembly rivet right in place of the power assembly?
Also are there any differences in the doors on a 90-92 regulator and door vs. pre 90s?

I would think all years would be interchangable, considering the doors were the same, especially if you get the whlole assembly, find a donor car and get all the parts...
If you want to know for sure I can look in the Parts & Illustration Catalogs, and see if the regulators changed any over the years.

Should I just look in the online parts catalogs then? I wasn't intending you to do the work for me okfoz, so thanks for offering. If I can find out myself by looking into it then that is what I should do.
Boy, I bet I am gonna have a royal bitch of a time trying to find 2 manual regualtor assemblies eh?
Hint hint... Anybody hearing this? I will pay for some manuals! Anybody wanna trade for power stuff?? (Yeah good luck on this one!)

Just goto the junk yard and find a car with manual windows im sure ull find 1. I wouldnt replace the door u would have more trouble getting the door lined up also u want the same color It not hard to do the swap i changed power window motor b4 and u have to take the whole regulator out. But it would take some tools with u to cut or drill the rivets out. I always grinded them almost flat then just tapped them out.

Hey disturb yes, I am most definately interested. The assemblies are still inside my current doors, so I have yet to take them out. I will be sure to be gentle then and not just trash em then.
Also, everything did work just fine before. I am changing over because I want weight reduction and simplification of the wiring.
So email me if you would like, or if I see no response here I will email you.

Did you ever do the swap??
Just to let you know, the manual windows might be a tad heavier than the power windows. The counter-weight ways a ton. If i were you, i would keep the power ones. It is a pain in the ***** to constantly have to roll up the windows manually, especially if you have to roll down the passenger one when you are in the car yourself. Trust me, it's not worth it, especially since you only want it for weight savings, which it isn't.

I did the swap; and if there was a weight difference, I never felt it. I had power windows, but rusty doors. I put on good doors with manual windows, and swapped the power stuff into the new doors.

Well, the weight thing is not that important really my issue is the fact that I have completely removed all the wiring and everything for that power crap. My car is streetable, which means I will want to be able to roll the windows down from time to time, but I wouldnt wanna have to hold a jumper wire to the harness with 12v every time I want to roll the window up or down. Other then that, my car is pretty much strictly drag racing.
Hopefully I will have my parts next week. I traded DISTURBthePEACE for his stuff.
I will post with the results when done.

There are some small differences in the doors between the years but not enough to matter...
I swapped the power windows in my 1992 RS from my 1984 SC, and then I swapped the manual windows from my 92 into the 84....It couldn't have been much simpler, and I have like no experience with this type of thing anyways.
I believe there is a article which explained how to swap the windows here
swapping to manual windows is basically the same thing only less of a hassle to get in and out of the door and you dont have to have deal with the electrical side of things.
