Everyone with a GTAuto RamAir II hood>>
How in the heck did you get it to fit. I was one of the first one's to purchase from him a few years ago, and he seems to be no help. I have about a 1/2-3/4" gap up front. I'v tried realigning everything, even headlights, but nothing seems to work. It seems to be hitting my radiator support, do you guys think it would be ok to trim it underneath, and hopefully that'll fix it, but I don't want to weaken the hood at all....
here's a pic
It's been like this for over 2 years now...IT'S TIME TO FIX IT!!!!:hail:

wow that is a big gap.
you think its caused by the spring at all? also did you try to move the latch down?
how can you tell its hitting the rad. support.. did you try and take off the rad. support to see if it goes down at all?

The latch is as far down as it can go, I also cut 2 coils off the spring(which now makes it a pita to open). I can tell it's rubbing because of the yellow paint marks on my support.

I have heard quite a few complaints on the quality if GTAuto's hoods. Not many people seem to have it line up right. I know the same is for teh quality on the US Body Source's hood too. Mine never lined up quite right, it took a little bit of fabbing.

You can trim the hood without weakening it too much, but the problem is that the fiberglass is probably set in that position by now... even if you make the clearance, itll probably stay like that. Just another reason why I didnt buy anything from GTAuto... I have yet to see 1 hood fit perfectly. ASCD will be getting my buisness. Ive seen their product, and its worth every penny.

Bandit,
I have the same problem you have with the hood, i think he hadn't quite perfected the hood on that first batch that we bought in on. I haven't managed to fit the gap but i do have some ideas on it. I think by putting some washers or something else to raise the hood in the back(near the windshield) this will bring the front down closer to being in line. My other thought is to bring the headlights forward a bit to close the horizantal gap, moving the headlights is something i need to do anyway since my driver side headlight is not aligned correctly, whether that is a factory thing or the previous owner had an accident i don't know. feel free to email me if you want to discuss some other ideas.

My USBODY hood is a bit like that - though a lot of my gap comes from the front bumper cover/nose cone "sagging". It's like the cover has drooped along the drivers side which gives the front gap; the gap along next to the driver's side headlight is just because of a bad/imperfect mold. I've heard you can heat up fiberglass and bend it to a new position but I'm going to ask a boat/fiberglass shop before I attempt it. Actually, I'll probably have the guys who do that stuff for a living do it.
