crazy firebird hood
i was at a junkyard a little while back... There is a black with gold trime Trans Am, i think it was. The hood is not on the car any more, but it is laying on ground next to car. I think it was the right headlight 'door' says Firebird on it... maybe Pontiac cant remember now..
anyways, the hood was not cutout like a regular firebird hood. (the headlight doors were not cut out). they still popped up but when u lifted hood up, the doors went with them.. is this somehting special? what year were tehy on? i never looked to see what year the TA was... but i kniow it has a rear windshield wiper if needed, i could get my dads digital camera go back out there and snap some photos of it.. but that may take a week or so.. depends how motivted i am
thanks for any replys...

That sounds like a fiero hood. I'm unaware of any 'fiero-type' hoods that were made for firebirds. Where was this junkyard at by the way?

Im curious as to what you saw. I'd like to see the pic once you get it. It sounds like a fiero hood to me.
Of the subject....my parents attended Kent State University when they both still lived in Ohio. They witness the national guard came to break up the protest and shot 4 students during the vietnam war period.

Hard to believe, but I think I know what you're talking about! My dad and I were cruising the junkyards here in Phoenix this morning and saw a car much like the one you describe. It looked almost identical to a thirdgen, with a firebird wrap-around wing and a shortened engine bay. The hood went all the way to the front (no cut-outs) and it had pop-up headlights.
Here's the thing, though--did you see the rear end of the one you were looking at? This one had straaange taillights... and in the middle, where our license plate would go, it had a center taillight section--with a Plymouth emblem.
Anyone know what this car is??

well, i dont think thats the same car ... im pretty sure hood said firebird ... may have said pontiac tho... i went to climb the fence the other day .. just to realise the fence is like 12 foot high.. im not sure if they closed down or what, both times i went there they were closed. . ill try to stop by tomorrow or so ...
But until i get a SD card reader or find the cable to hook camera to PC im not to worried about rushing it... but if i did see it , i could confirm whether it said pontiac or firebird, so well see.. ill keep this post bookmarked so if it gets set back a few pages i can find it and post the pic

That isn't the car I saw... in fact, it's nothing like it. The one I saw had a solid hood all the way to the front, and in the place where a camaro would have headlight pockets, it had popup headlights. It had body lines identical to a camaro, but with a firebird wing and an engine bay that looked shorter than normal. The back was round like a thirdgen, not angular like a Conquest. I couldn't see the top of the hood, because it was sitting on top of two other cars and the hood was open...

The car in the picture is a Fiero, I posted it so Mshrmhd could see if the hood was the same one that he saw.
The car that you saw, Spike, was a Dodge Daytona/ Plymouth Laser. I knew exactly what it was when you posted the description. A while after I posted, I noticed that I probably didn't make the distinction between the two clear.
Here's the daytona.
