Cowl Induction Hood accident
Hey i have had the worse thing happen to me the other day. I was pulling out of work and not even 100 feet down the road my hood pop open and riped off the hinges right into the middle of the road . It could be fixable did anyone ever repair their fiberglass hood and if so how? If not what are some good online places to look for cowl induction hoods instead of harwood.
Thanks for the help, any is appreciated.

If you want the best get a Goodmark, there steel, fully functional, and the only officially GM licenced restoratoin aftermarket hoods.

i'd shy away from up22...just me though, they might have good products, but they look cheap based on their site, and thats not a good way to look if you ask me.
I'm stickin with glasstek...steel is....steel...you know that steel sucks, thats why you have a glass hood...
i imagine the hood you had was inferior or something. The hood wasn't latched all the way or the thing was never properly constructed to begin with. if it was just a ****ty hood, i'd buy a good one, my glasstek has seen 140 with a 15mph headwind, so i know it's a strong hood. You could try to repair it, but unless your real good with fiberglass, it'll probally cost you what a good hood was by the time it's painted an all...
what were the conditions outside, how was it secured originally, how much did the harwood flex? some info along those lines would be kind of helpful in understanding what went wrong. and if you call, Harwood may be able to work something out with you...

I also have a steel Goodmark hood and love it. I once had a glass hood on my 70 Z/28 and it ripped off just like you said and I always said that I would never get another one.

I also had a glass hood on a 71 Elcamino and it blew off also. Steel is the only way I will go now.

Hey, mine wasnt harwood i dont like them at all. It was like the red one with the line, 3" got it from a swap meet and wasnt cheep at all. The problem was the latch didnt hook on right as it caught a lil wind it riped right off the hinges. Im going to end up fixing it, its not as bad as i thought.

You guys know that the fiberglass hoods need to be bolted down with hood pins, right? I dont know if you had em, but I cant imagine the hood flying off with a set of hood pins properly installed...
