Has anyone here made their own cowl hood out of a flat hood?

I'm thinking of giving it whack, and was curious to see if anyone did this, and how it turned out. Any structural problems? Thanks.

Well, I can get a hood from the U-Pull-It for a few bucks and it shouldn't be hard to match the black paint. I'm thinking that fabricating the scoop will be pretty difficult, but I saw someone was making the scoop in a mag a while back, so maybe I'll go that way and just crimp a flange, weld it in, and call it a day.
