anyone do a top conversion??
Has anyone ever done a T top conversion from a hard top car?...ive seen it done on 4th gens, and i peaked under my headliner, and it appeared to have the framework already there (ie. already looked like a t top car, just with the roof skin on top) for t tops, seems all i have to do is cut the top skin off the car, and buy the t tops and mounting stuff (junkyard) ...so any advice on this?

4th gens are easy to convert to t'tops. They have eyerything there except the ttop hardware an you need to take off the top panel and cut the 2 window sides.
Now on a 3rd gen you cant just cut the roof, you need to cut off you entire roof at the a pillar and b pillars. Then find a wrecked or striped out t'top car and cut the roof off in the same place as you did on your car. Its a hard job to do but if you dont have any fabrication skills or a shop that can do the conversion for you. If not then your better off getting a ttop car and selling you hardtop.
I wish GM would have made our tops like the 4th gens, Pop off a panel, get out a saws all, and t top hard ware, weatherstripping and install and your done.
On www.cz28.com there are few members who have done that to their 4th gens, one guy had a very detailed website with great pics.

Probably cheaper to find a T-top car, unless you LOVE the hardtop car you already have.

there is no quick cheap fix , quick cheap fix will get you cheap looking results and the same amount of water getting in.
fix it once and do it right , get new weather stripping.
