Anybody know where I can get doorpanels like this?
My 87 TA has molded factory doorpanels, like Redraif's (below) but they are black and have map pockets where her speaker grilles are. I have only seen the black doorpanels in one other car before, and really need to find another set for one of our projects. Does anyone have a set they'd be willing to part with? I already tried Hawks and Thirdgenparts.com, and I'm calling Roy at TGR today (couldn't get him yesterday).

you can also dye other nolded panels. The panels you're looking for came on mostly GTAs or other firebirds with the "deluxe interior" option. Here's a pic of my door panels that used to be red. Color change went well and they're holding up nice. The leather also is nice
I dyed them because black ones are so hard to find.

We have two sets that are other colors, and may try to dye them, but I've yet to find a product that will take the wear that a doorpanel and armrest will see. I'd really prefer a set that are already black, since these will be going in Redraif's car which is shown and driven daily. 3.1 Eyecandy, what did you use on yours, and how long have they been dyed? In 87 only they were available even on base models and regular TAs, but I'm pretty sure they were GTA-only after that. An ex-roommate had them in his 88 GTA.
82Firebird, I PMd you on the doorpanels. I'm definitely interested in them.

I'm almost certain that the speakers in the panels was a modification and that none came with speakers in them stock. please correct me if this is wrong. Also, I do agree that the molded panels have a really nice look to them

Correct, none of these came with door speakers...they either had map pockets (most of them...like mine) and power windows, or no map pocket and manual windows. Redraif's car was originally manual window, and has an aftermarket conversion. The 6X9 covers cover the smaller speakers she has (not sure what size) and the original crank stub. Theres not enough room for a 6X9 (or possibly even something smaller) on a car that came with power windows. You can PM Redraif if you want, she knows more on this subject than I do.
