Sweet *** hurst shifter for autos
About a week ago I ordered a catalog from yearone.com for 82-02 Camaro's and Firebirds. It came in the mail a few days back so I took it straight to my personal reading spot (bathroom). I started looking through it and much to my surprise I come across the baddest Automatic shifter I have ever seen. The Hurst Dual/Gate 2 shifter. I am definatly getting this shifter. Rather costly at $230 but it looks so cool I can't resist it. It's custom fit for 83 - 92 Camaros, and it is so awesome. You guys have to check it out seriously. The picture on the site doesn't show it too good, but on the left side is P R N OD D 2 1 , then on the right side is 4321.

Anybody got a link to a site that sells the Hurst Competition Plus shifter. I cannot seem to find one that fits a third gen.
kfoley: Have you any photos of your billet plus shifter installed?
Thanks.
Andy.

Hey SFX099, try calling up Summit or Jegs with that part number and see if they can get it for you from Hurst. I hate to say it since i have spent some money at yearone, but they can be very expensive with some of their stuff! Since Summit carries Hurst already, you may be able to get it from them, cheaper. I know it has been done before with other products. I have also found that my local GM Parts counter is cheaper with some of the parts then Yearone. Just some info for ya. When i first got Yearone i thought it was the greatest b/c they had pictures of stuff i could actually use to make my car look newer, but then i started to shop around and found a decent price increase with some of the stuff. Good luck

Does anybody know if the Hurst Dual Gate II comes with a new shifter plate? If it doesn't am I going to have to cut my original one up like I will have to with the Megashifter? Also, I noticed the hurst doesn't come with as many "switches" as the B&M does (I think like the neutral safety, and back up light.) Can anyone tell me about these switches with the Hurst? -89IRO

I am sure it does b/c if you can cut a shifter plate like the one in that link above, well then you have skills! I seriously doubt anyone without the right tools can make one correctly, without screwing up a few times, atleast. If i were you i would call them up, i am sure it does come with its own shifter plate, but just to be on the safe side, for your sake. good luck

O.K, you know how it has two "gates", the left gate is for normal street use and the right is for race. Now couldn't you manualy go through the gears on the street side just as quickly as that of the race gate? I don't see the point of these two gates. Oh and Kfoley- did your hurst come with its own shift plate or did you have to cut up your original one? And what about the neutral safety and back up light switches, does it come with these? -89IRO

I'm not sure how that shifter works. Sorry. From the picture, it looks cool, but i don't know how good of a shifter it is or even how strong of a shifter it is. It looks like it would be a PITA to work with while racing, don't know though b/c the picture is on an angle. good luck

Oh O.K., that's alright. This damn shifter crap is just plain out confusing. Don't know to either go with hurst or B&M. Im sure the hurst is of a lot better quality, but it seems like the B&M (megashifter) has more features that come with it. But if the hurst comes with the shifter plate (I know for sure the B&M doesn't) then I am all for that one. Can anyone tell me if the hurst comes with its own plate??????? I know the Hust Dual Gate is a lot more expensive than the B&M, but I am willing to pay that for a quality shifter. -89IRO

Here, i'll make it EASY for you. Go to www.mrgasket.com and click on the Hurst logo. Then you can contact them from there through email if you do not feel like paying any phone charges. Here is their number: 216-688-8300 ext. 500 M-F 8:30-5pm est. Good enough? I believe i had said to call earlier in this thread. That is what i do if i can not find an answer on the internet, that is what company's "help" lines are for. Now, if you could just come back to this thread and let the other members know what you have found out, please, it is all that i ask of you. This way the thread can be beneficial to others who may perform a search in the future! good luck

race gate will not let you skip gears, it will only go into the next gear
yes, it does come w/ a new shift plate, and all necessary switches.
