RFL-1 Rapid Flashing Brake Light System

Hey, my dad tells me there is a system out there that you can hook up to your brake lights to have the lights in our housing flash in sequence when we have our turning signal on. He has a 2002 WS6 and has 3 lights on each side of his brake housing. My car is outside, so i cant see, but ours have 3 too, right? either 3 or 2. Does anyone know if there is a sequencial box for our cars? Does anyone even know what im talking about? Im confusing my self . If someone could help me out, it would be appreatiated.

yes, there are a couple of systems available, I put one in my T-A about 2 years ago looks awesome. you really need three lights to make it look right though, real simple to wire in about 30 min's per side. I got them off the net at a place called "webelectricmagazine.com" they were about $65.00 for both sides and a very complete kit.

I have the RFL-1 unit installed on my 90 RS 'vert. which uses the same 5-lamp HMSL (High Mount Stop Light) as the 1987-90 coupes. The RFL-1 unit doesn't operate as you have described. It rapidly flashes your HMSL when you apply the brakes for roughly 2 seconds, then lights them solidly. My only caution about the unit is that you need to use the same brand of halogen bi-pin bulb. I have two different brands of bulbs, so it looks a little funky because the lamps light at different speed.

I know there are units available that will convert multi-bulb stop lamps to light sequentially for turn signals. But this unit isn't that type. Also I believe your 1991-92 coupe HMSL only has two lamps.

does the turn signal kit flash sequentially for the brake lights as well, or just the turn signals? If it does it for the brake lights, I'll be looking for a different kit (though I suspect there's a way to wire the lights to make it work. too bad I'm not electrically inclined )

the kit will flash the brake lights once everytime you step on the brake (I.E. 2 inside lights on, 2 middle lights on, 2 outside lights on, all lights on) after the first flash they will remain lit solid until you release the pedal.

They have changed the RFL-1 since I bought mine. It now has tha ability to be switched between continuous flashing and timed flashing (goes solid on after roughly 2-sec.). Mine only has timed flashing. On our 1987-90 coupes it is a piece of cake to install this unit. You actually mount it behind the plastic cargo area surround just before the wires that are on that pad that the spring-pins on the hatch contact.
