I just installed my GT7 Courbeau seats and I am here to tell you that the factory seats are Cr@p in comparison! If you are debating between recovering your factory seats or going aftermarket then aftermarket is the way to go.

How are the seat brackets? I've heard that aftermarket seats can sit noticeably higher sometimes. I'm looking at getting some Corbeau CR-1s.

Yes, they do sit a bit higher but their craftsmanship is excellent. The only problems I had were that I had to open up five holes on the seat brackets to get the bolts started. One of the floor pan bolt holes and two on each seat to bracket mounting surface. The elongation of the holes was minimal, so I was'nt too concearned.

Corbeau Targa RS seats here. My only complaint is color fading. I wouldn't mind it so much if the entire seats faded the same. Strange thing is a few parts of the seat show no fading, yet others have faded a lot. They must have had some bad lots of material when they made mine. I bought my seats used, so I can't get them covered under the warranty. Good things are how the seats hold me snugly and securely in place, especially during our canyon cruises.

I just got done putting some CR1's in my ride too, my only complaint is the ride height. It's VERY noticeable. I'm 6' 3" and was very comfortable with the factory ride height, now with the corbeau's I'm very close to hitting my head on the t-tops But all in all, I love the look and feel of the seat, they definately keep you secure and snug behind the wheel, I live out very twisty, curvy road and the corbeaus dont let me slide around in the seat at all!! Cant wait to get all my suspension stuff done to really put them to the test!! Most definately better than the 4th gen seat too, I used to own a '95 TA and there's no comparison in looks or feel of the seats, just my .02!

sounds like supportable seats! what was the cost of them? however i dont like the statement about fading.

Two things to clarify on the fading problem I've experienced. First, I live in sunny SoCal, drive a convertible and as the local club Members know, I have the top-down 95% of the time. Second, the fading is even for the individual fabric panels used to make the seats. It is just a few panels that have remained darker in color compared to others. But it is the entier panel in each instance that has either faded or remanied dark. That is why I suspect my seats were made from two lots of material. One of the lots of fabric used to make my seats must have been bad. I understand there is a warranty for fading if you purchased the seats new. Since I didn't have the original receipt, nor did I know the original purchase date, I wasn't able to have them replaced under warranty.

Yeah they have all the normal features that your regular seats have. Tilt forward, recline and slid.

Superman, those look fantastic! What are the lenghts of the straps on your harnesses? Also, where did you get them with only the 4 point hook up? Looks awesome.

i would like the support of a seat like that, but i would be concerned about comfort on a road trip or a long drive ( I know, im a wuss). How are those type of racing seats in that department?

I don't have the Corbeau seats ,I have sparcos but they are simalar. Your old brackets will work with some minor modifications.
And you wont have you'r head hitting the t-tops. If the search feature was working I could show you where we have discused this in the past. But because it's not I guess I will post these pics again.
And this styleof seat is very comfortable as long as you arn't to big of a person.
I'm 6'4" and have no headroom problems,,
But if you have a waist any bigger than 36" or 38" you might want to try sitting in one befor you spend all that $$



here you can see I welded a "U" shaped bracket to the seat bracket to hold a bolt in the right place to bolt to the bottom of the seat.
And NO you don't see any of the extra sticking out of the front.its all consealed under the seat.
And here you can see they sit nice and LOW!

I have heard of a few guys that say they have made their stock sliders work with this seats to make them sit like the stock seats. scott's85T/A is the only person that I have ever seen that has actually done it so I would say he is your best choice for info on it. The install is pretty damn easy if you buy there sliders, its just a bolt in thing and takes about 30 minutes to put them in.

Comfort needs to be your last concern with these seats. They are very comfortable and provide a ton of support. Comfy on long drives as well. As Scott already stated if your a thick person, tries these seat before you buy them. I don't know about Sparco, but Corbeau does make an extra wide version of their seats for the bigger people.

Thanks for the complements. I can't remember the length of the straps right off the top of my head. It is a five point system, I just don't have the strap that goes between your legs in that pic. You could easily leave that strap out to make it a four point system if you wanted to.

I always wonered if you could use your stock sliders. I like the welded setup, but would it be possible just to drill a hole in the slider itself or will it ruin the mechanism.

No, I tried this first, the head of the bolt will interfear with the sliding and you won't be able to adjust the seat, and you will never be able to get a wrench on the bolt to tighten it.

I had the brackets and sliders provided by sparco but they were way to high for me.

I really appreciate the tip. I have been looking at seats and to this point I had ruled out aftermarket seats. I am 6,4 275lbs and I cannot afford less space. After seeing the welded setup I am going to start looking at aftermarket seats again. A five point would be really handy when autocrossing.

Looks like those seats have interference problems with the seat belt anchor like mine does. I have Recaros and my reclining adjuster hits the seat belt anchor.

I can't speak for the Recaros, or the Corbeaus, but It's not a problem with mine. I did have to remove to reclining adjuster on the inside where they hit my 4th gen console. They popped right off and can easlly be put back on if I ever want to switch them.
