Can I move my steering wheel closer?

I was wondering if there is anyway to move the steering wheel closer to me. I am 6'3", and have the seat pretty far back. I can barely reach the wheel with the tips of my fingers. I have a 92 w/ airbags. What can I do? Can I install a 2" spacer or something? Has anyone done anything like this?

Thanks

You may have to change steering colums. I know that alot of cadillacs came with the telescoping wheel option. You might could get a column out of a cadi....

I know that when I changed my 86 bird to a Grant GT wheel, the adapter kit made the 13 inch steering wheel a lot closer to me, About 2 inches, but enough that I noticed.

How about tilting the seat up? I'm 6'3" as well and have no problems. But then again I don't lay back like the "cool" people do.

Jza: I think my problem may be the seats, I have to lean them back more than I like because it hurts my back otherwise. Maybe my new ones will sort that out when I get them next month, the stock seats just aren't made for tall skinny people.

Hmm. Guess I'm just lucky then.. It hurts my back to lean back, not the other way around.

One way to try the feel of tipping the seat-back a little forward is to lower the back seat forward. Boy, didnt that sound crazy? Lower the back seat down to the seat bottom and get in and drive with the seat-back holding the front seat forward. I am tall and it does feel a little different for us taller people. You also think that you have problems with the space for your legs. Have you noticed that the passenger side of the cars has less leg room than the drivers side? Try converting a car to right-hand drive and dealing with the loss of leg space. Bummer. But if that is what it takes to drive an f-body then so be it.

I just created another post about 10 min ago
I'm not a morron okay.
I don't want to tilt my seat forward, I want to be comfortable.
Does anyone know how to do this with an airbag?
