How to remove console?

OK, with all the 4th gens swappers on here, this should be a simple task for you guys.

I've got the shift plate off, and the Ebrake handle, but I still can't get the upper console past the Ebrake! Does the WHOLE handle need to come off? If so, how do I remove it?

Please help!!!!!!!!

You should be able to pull the hand brake all the way up and slide the console up the shaft of the lever and have it off in seconds.

My Ebrake doesn't come up more than at 45 degree angle...maybe a little more. It's real tight. How do I loosen it?

you could take off your back wheels, spin off your drums and take apart your braks, making it possible for the e brake to be pulled the rest of the way. Other than that, see if there is a way to loosen the cable any other way. If that way doesnt work, try lifting the upper part up, then spin the console sideways, then lift the part out. This is what worked best for me. I think you can unbolt the ebrake, but im not sure on how hard it is to put back, thus with all the tension. Plus, the fourth gen console has no room to bolt the ebrake back in.

Well, I've got 4 wheel disk, but I suppose the same idea applies.

I tried the twist idea, but that didin't seem to work.

I know there's some sort of tensioner for the Ebrake underneath somewhere? Hmmmmm....

Getting the console up over the E brake handle can be tricky. You just have to work with it. I pulled my handle up as much as i could with 2 hands and then lifted the console up and twisted it around away from the dash. Make sure the switches are unplugged or you wont get very far also, the plastic can bend a little but not much and the temp of the plastic will determine how flexible it is. if that still dont work then you can disconnect the cable from under the car as stated above. either at the wheels or under the car right above the driveshaft
