new hole for liscence plate

I got a new liscence plate all the way from georgia(cheaper registration than in Texas where I live) and the plate didn't line up to the holes on the car. So I took a self tapping screw and made a small hole, then let the screw that came with the car do the rest? Was this a bad idea? Do you think my bumper could crack or something? It hasn't already, and it's a pretty small hole. Thanks.

I'd rather make the parts fit the car before I'd make the car fit the parts.

Oh and if the hole is round and smooth, you shouldn't have any cracking problems.

Not that I would go around putting holes in my car or anything. But if you have to. Plastic is like wood..if you just screw a screw into it you may crack it... pre drilling will keep the material from craking on you. Like Jza said though, I would make the part fit the car and not the car fit the part.
