"never asked before" Fourth gen dash question...

You guys that are doing the dash conversion out of 4th gen camaros seem to be distraught, upset at the fact that you have to loose your front speakers unless you buy a pod. Well, In my truck, the doors are about same thickness, and its speaker is mounted in the door. What if you cut a hole in your 3rd gen panels and door and then install the speakers there? If you have a nice grille, it would look great. And if you dont want to cut up your stock setup, go to the junkyard and pick up a pair of 3rd gen panels and do it. As for any cutting in the door, roofer's "Ice and Water" would work just fine. That or some sorta sound proofin. Would this work or is there linkage/window all over there in the door? Cause I think I just solved something here:lala:

In addition, where would one go about finding a dakota digital box, how much, and how do i know if I nee it? I looked through searchs, but i coulnt find anything that helped me. I own a 1992 Camaro RS 25th anniversary, 5 speed TBI 305. Please help a fellow thirdgen out!

I believe the motor for the power windows would be in the way and as for the dakota digital box this might help

even if you could locate a spot in the door to position the speakers, it would sound like **** compared to having them mounted in the kickpanel enclosures because it's a more even distance to your ears.

point taken, but, most teens thinking to do this mod would like to know as many ways to save a couple of bucks for a while, until they get enough to finish the whole thing. I would like to start soon, by buying the dakota digital and 4th gen speedo. Ill install them, posting my results, and keep the 3rd gen for awhile. Then when funds come, ill get dash. Then ill buy the kickpanels. You got to do things in steps when you have no money

I know exactly what steps are.. (I'm 16) I plan on buying the doors though. Because you can't use the 3rd gen doors with the 4th gen dash can you? I'm gonna sell my old doors- there mint!

im pretty sure you can use the 3rd gen doors with a 4th gen dash, cant go the other way because the doors have a lip that strikes the 3rd gen dash.

you think the rest of us are rich? i'm 18, i'm saving for college and fixing up my car, but why pay to get door pods and then have to pay for kick panels so it sounds good? just do it once and do it right...my philosophy on everything

I would have to agree with ontogenesis. I am a working man (enlisted in the Air Force), so I am on a budget, too. When I do something to my car, it goes in steps. I do use the best or go with the best parts when the time comes. IMO going cheap the first time ends up costing you more in the long run.

Im using the stock bose kickpanels that were factory on my 90 iroc, so dash speakers never have been and never will be a problem.
