Transmission: 700r4, 5spd std
Axle/Gears: 3.73
Need Help Quick!!!

Ok so today i put the new outside door handle on the drivers side. so i close the door and now i cant open it from the inside or outside, both the locks are functional and move how they are suposed to. so i am totally confused as to why the door doesnt open. so i hope thats helpful enough for someone to help me. thanks for the help

DId you hook up the connecting rods to the handles and release? Or did they get broken or bent? Thats all I can think of at the moment.

Hmmmm, you should be able to open the door from inside the car if you have your door panel off. You can reach in and pull up on a tab on the door striker release. It then should be possible to look at what each rod is doing when youre pulling on the handles.

yeah theres 4 rods, one for key lock, one for outside handle, one for inside handle and one for inside lock, they all move and are in the unluck position, the door just doesnt open

Is it possible for you to pull up on that relase tab to see if its releasing from the door striker pin?

I'm not sure if thats the real name of the part, thats just what I've hear it called.When you open your door theres a black rod sticking out of the door jamb. When the door closes over it a hook in the door release mechanism goes up and over the striker and clamps it, thus keeping the door closed.

hmm that could be it, i can pick the door up like maybe 3/4" but thats it

i could try that, its at school so i cant do it right now, it pissed me off wen i couldent think of anything else to do to open the door

I hope your able to fix this problem tommorow.My former daily driver Dodge dynasty did that. The door pins were worn out badly. I eventuall fixed it but it was just a beater car now for my SC it would have been fixed within a few days :hail: 3rd gens

yeah my door pins r fuked i hope to get around to replacing those one day but i duno well see wat happens
