cheapest way to get brighter headlights?
my z is blind as a bat. The lights are just not bright anymore. They are only about 2 years old too. Is there any way I can change over to a different bulb that is brighter? I looked in the Summit catolog and there are some headlights in the sport compact section that look like the sealed beams we have now. they take the 9004 blulbs? isnt that the same bulbs for our foglights? how about those new LED bulbs that replace the 1156 and 1157 bulbs in the taillights. are they any good and do they work?

I have those same spot light hi-beams on my SC...they are great for straight ahead lighting, but not so great for giving a wide field of vision at a distance, unfortunately. I'm also using the GE 'HiOutput' low beams which help a bit. I've also installed some relays to operate the headlights in the same manner as the MAD article referenced above.

I saw that bit, about running new relays and wires, years ago, when I used to get 4 wheel & off road magazine. If you try it, let us know how it goes. I've still gotta fix my one busted headlight connector, it's been, what, over a week already?

Just making sure here that everyone knows that there are adjuster screws to adjust the headlights, y'know to aim them?

I am not going to be running more wiring under the hood. I hate wires. Whats the best stock replacement bulb or conversion to do. Ill go as far as changing the headlamps to a newer design and cutting the connector thats it. Also, do they have any of those super white bulbs for the foglights.

Remove all connectors, disassemble, clean, and re-install.
Total cost: $0.00 assuming you have any tools at all, even a crescent wrench and a paper clip will do.
Those GE high output bulbs are the best sealed-beam non-gimmick bulbs I've ever used (and I've gone through a few sets..all those pics in the headlight article were on my cars).
I've also had diamond cut housings with H4 bulbs on my car.

I would recommend Sylvania silverstars . I just got them and love them . The light is pure white and not the fakish looking blue . It lights the road VERY good . Better I think than my old PIAA super plasma's and theres no comparison to stock halogens .
Best part about it .....Sylvania makes a Silverstar light in the correct sealed beam housing already for Camaros . No separate housings and bulbs , relays ect. to buy

Silverstars work fairly well unless it's raining. I find it difficult to see with them, compared to the Xtravision low beams, when the road is wet. The whiter light doesn't work as well as the yellower light in the rain. When the road is dry, they're great. Silverstar high beams are awesome. Silverstars are rather pricey.
To aid the wet road problem, I'm getting some of those replacement high output gold-dichroic bulbs for the fog lights. Autooptiks sells special aftermarket 885 bulbs for those.

$24 per light . If you do low and high , X's 4 for u . Before you freak , price the cost the headlight housings to run H4 bulbs and then price "GOOD QUALITY" bulbs . My PIAA super plasma's were $85 a pair and the housings were $42 a pair ....$260 to do all 4 lights
IMO , Silverstars are a deal
