Whats that silver metal bracket underneath the radio pod in the first pic? Is that where the two brackets from the console bolt to the dash?

I know your dash is from a Camaro dash but does yours also have a bracket that looks like that behind the silver bracket somewhere? Maybe they forgot to send me the silver bracket? Thanks.

Your bracket looks broken, it shoudl look liek this (rear shot)
The center 2 holes are where it was attached to the body in the 4th genm the side holes (hanging off each side) are where the consoel attches, (1 bolt/nut per side)

Wellt he dash itself is one big peice (minus the cluster cover, guages, ac outlets and radio trim peice)
the centerconsole (must have if doing the swap unless you wanna get really creative with the thirdgen center console) is also one big peice (with a shifter cover plate and boot plate)
ID advise not from the firewall back (since the firewall is WAY back thier and its maostly the heater core and ducting.
I went from the vents that were bolted to the dash forward. ALl youll need is soem dykes, flat head and phillips, 7mm socket, 10mm socket and a 13mm ( ithink it was 13mm, youll need it for 2 bolts on either side of the dash connected to a long threaded bolt.
Dotn forget the knee bolsters to make the swap as clean and factory lookign as possible!
Hope to be 3/4 done by next week, waiitng on the speedo interface in the mail right now.
Its quite easy to take the dash out of the donor car. Took me an hour and half while pausing to drink soem beer and shoot the **** with the dashes original owner.

I got a few good ones...
Since they come with airbags, any way to run the airbags? Maybe use a '90+ SIR module and run both bags off of it? I dunno, just seems like a perfectly good waste of two airbags. Then you canfuse them and tell the insurance agency you have a thirdgen with dual airbags.
ABS should be pretty straightforward. I got preety close to completing the schematics for ABS on a thirdgen, off of an early fourthgen. Should be easy to synch the lights up to the 4thgen cluster for ABS.
Anyway for use people (like me) to reset the odo, in cases where it's completely wrong or where we'd want it to reflect the mileage since our car was 're-manufactured'?
Will the heater and A/C remain fully operational?
I just got ahold of a '97 dash, so I may be helping you with these questions...makes it hard to do the electrical though, since I have no drivetrain in the car at the moment...well, at least for the last 2 years

I bought mine out of a 99 Bird dash/door panels, but I'm still searching for the ever illusive center console, auto/man. I don't care as it's getting an aftermarket shifter anyways. I don't know how far you want to go as far as making the new dash pad fit the new dash, my car just got squirted last night FINALLY, and I had literally everything removed. I'm gonna wait to reinstall the windsheild until I get the "new" dash pad trimmed for a perfect fit to the radius of my 3rd gen against the winsdheild. For $35 to have it removed and reinstalled I think it's small beans for the end result. This way I won't take a chance of "accidentally" taking too much material from here or there cause it's all easily accessable, not to mention all the other stuff to get at, without the windsheild being in there. Just my 2 cents though.
This things gonna look bad *** when it's done, already have a woody!

youll want the windshiled in. the 4th gen rake is vastly differnt, so much so that im trimmign my pad to fit right now, and it basically is touching the windshiled if you try to go under, it will rasie the whole pad up.
Im thinking a fibreglass setup will be best looking right now......so i might be doign that here reaaaal soon.

Thanks for the info. I got my windsheild up in the attic of the garage, so when I install/cut the pad, I'll have it on hand for dry fittment. I know what your saying about the rake being different and I don't want to cut it and have the guys install the windsheild permenant then see my dash pad an 1" above the dash itself, that would suck.
