1992 Plastic T-Tops! HELP!
I have a 1992 Camaro RS. It's a great car and in super condition. Problem is, I hate the plastic tops! I had a 1991 RS that had glass tops. I recently purchased a set of glass tops off ebay. They don't latch?? I thought the tops were suppose to fit? The pins look different. My plastic tops have covers over the pins and the glass ones don't. Can anyone out there help me out here? Is there a way to make these tops work on my car? THANKS

There's two different kinds, thin pins, and thicker pins. I don't think they're interchangeable. Maybe someone else could shed some light?
But I think you might be screwed. Might have to sell those ones, and buy the correct ones.

can't you just take the pins of the plastic (acrylic) t-tops, and put them in the glass t-tops....
I never had this problem, I put the t-tops off a 1984 camaro SC on my 1992 RS when i took it in to get painted, and it was kind of a pain to get them latched, but they went on with enough manipulation

The glass tops do fit my car! But when I do get the tops latched, they sorta bow up and I can see light through them. I don't see that switching pins would be possible, the supports they go through are different to allow the larger pin to go through. These are attached to the glass??
Does anyone know if I could just change something on the car, like at the tops of the windows where the pins go in that would allow the glass tops to fit? THANKS

this has been asked before, i think you have to het the pin holders off of the apillars of a car that has the right pin type. they are pretty easy to change. you may want to do a search if you need more help.
thanks

yeah i think getting were the pins go into you should be fine.. two bolts hold each one.. you need to take the plastic interior from those areas.. see if you can find them at a junkyard.

You might try to adjust your tops so they fit before you go changing a bunch of stuff...
I highly doubt your flexing the glass, as you would probably break them... Plexiglas will bend easily, but glass is to rigid (even tho its actually concidered a liquid by some(more on that another day)) My bet is its adjusted high, and you are seeing a gap from that.
I noticed that when I put the plastic tops on my car, they were REALLY tight... I got the plastic attachment recievers from the junkyard to be sure, they look identical to my glass ones, so I ploped in the plastic t's in my car and it worked. They will fit, but you have to adjust your cams it was REALLY tight... as for the extra sleve on the outside of the pins I really do not know what that is all about, but they are spring loaded so they push into the t-top when you put them on the car.
I am interested in Plastic tops, I want to start making replacement plexiglass for them, and to do so I need some old ones for stock.

Car: 1987 GTA Hardtop

my 2 cents worth......
Just a few suggestions, I used to have a 91 Camaro that i had built , back about 10 years ago or so, and I had 2 pair of t-tops ( 1 Lexan pair & 1 glass pair ). I had painted the outside of my lexan tops to give it a different look. I did have to make some adjustment @ the t-top latches on the body, to find a happy medium in the adjustment to avoid the wind noise & get the proper seal in the t-tops. I dont recall the exactly the adjustments but their was adjustments in the car because no 2 cars are exactly the same. Like I said at the beginning, just my 2 cents worth. Good luck
