sandblasting

does anyone here do a lot of bodywork or know a lot about it. I am supposed to be getting my sandblasting gun this week hopefully. What type of sand or beads should I buy/use if I am blasting frames and body panels(I know regular sandblasting can warp the body panels because of the heat, but are there any alternatives)? Also should I use rust-metal prep liquid before blasting the frame? I am beginning a few restorations very soon. Any tips? Any help would be greatly valued.

Get the finest grade of sand you can find. Also be very careful of the amount of pressure that you use on body panels because the panels on these cars are quite thin and warp easily. Good Luck.

A friend of mine had his whole truck bead (plastic) blasted and it looked GREAT!!! The only place he had thave sand blasted was heave rust areas, ind now he is going to have to top fill it with a lot of primer filler or putty. Anyways...Plastic bead is by far the way to go!!!

What kind of primer/sealer works well when you are down at bare metal? If I were to do something like this I wouldnt want it to rust righ away again.

Epoxy primer is the best, but any primer is better than nothing.
