Water leak
When it rains, and only when it rains, the front passenger floorboard carpet gets pretty wet. It is not caused from the heater core (I replaced it this past summer). I have tried to locate the water entry point, but I can't find it. There is no evidence of water on or under the dashboard nor along the side panel under the dashboard. The firewall carpet area is dry and around and in front of the console is dry. The only wet area I can find is the floorboard. Apparently rain water is getting inside somehow. Has anyone ever had a problem like this?
My car is a 1991 Firebird Formula with T tops, which have never leaked.
Thanks,
Don

Check the weatherstripping on the door where the hinges are. Mine came off the door slightly and it was leaking.

Does it happen when the car is sitting or when it's been driven in the rain? If it happens when driving, check the floorboards for rust through.

Thanks everybody for your help.
BTW, the water accumulates in the floorboard while the car is parked in the driveway.

I hate to usurp your topic, but I too just found a puddle. I was removing the rears seats and in the dip under them there was a puddle of water. No where else was the car wet. The car hasnt been driving in a month, but snow just was on it a week ago and melted. I plan to pay more attention next time it rains, but any suggestions on what to look for in the mean time is appreciated. It is too far back for the ttops or door it would seem, too far forward for the hatch. It is possible it leaked somewhere else and drained down since i have been in another state for a few weeks.

Some of these water leaks are really a mystery. If I don't find my leak by just looking around, I will probably wait for spring and then put the garden hose on one section at a time and then inspect for water accumulation.
Thanks again everyone,

I had a wet passanger floor so I took out all my interior and put a garden hose on my roof and found out where it was coming from. There is a wiring harness behind the passanger kick panel. That is where I found my leak. Now I just have to figure out how to stop it. My car also smells like mildew so I have to figure out how to get rid of the smell too. Any Ideas let me know.

i own 3 t top cars- and 2 of them leaked- new t top weather stripping cured the problem. on my 83 camaro the seals looked great- still leaked- once i put the new seals on it was dry. the grand nationals seals were just all brittle and cracked. sit in the car when it rains and pull your headliner out- check for leaks coming in. also if your headliner board is a little discolored that can be from water seepage.

I bet it's the front of the window where it starts to dip down from the roofline.
You ever roll your window down a crack while its raining, hit your wipers, then have a wet knee?
Yeah, that same spot. Sometimes I leave my window cracked a little by accident because it looks closed from the inside and that happens overnight if it's raining hard.
When you look at it from the outside you can see it's open about an 1/8th of an inch though.

I have been told to take out the harness but not remove the gasket and put sealent around the gasket then put it back in the wall then put sealent around the plug on the inside and outside of the plug and no more leaks.
