Fog lite install complete - yea!
This is a story of the power of thirdgen.org and patience. After about a 1 year search and seizure project fog lites from scratch install is over. I hit the switch tonight.
Phase 1. Find a fog lite grill for the '85 SC. I post on all of the classified list and numerous posted messages. This is a nearly impossible part to find (since it was a rare special order option on the SC) but I meet John at our local 3rd gen gathering on Memorial Day and he tells me he has the last 2 grills in America. And he has the lens assembly, too but NO wiring. I figure it's worth it since to buy(the lenses) them from Chevy is $125.00 EACH. Eventually I will find the wiring, I remember thinking.
Phase 2. I meet John a month later and he has the grill which I paint black on the spot and he installs the grill and lens in 10 minutes. Now my car looks so much better. and the only one that knows there is no power to the fogs is me. $50.00 for the lens and the grill. a steal in my opinion.
Phase 3. Two weeks later. Installed GTS Headlight blackouts to match my rear blackouts. Now I am at the point of no return. It has now become hard to see at night but my car looks awesome.
Phase 4. I put the word out with my man Denny(LFN AT U) over on the NWIndiana/So Chicago board that I needed the wiring for the fogs. 2 months later as it gets closer to winter, got the return call, "Hey I think I got what you need. I am parting a '85 Z and it has complete wiring. Do You still want it". For $20.00 bucks I fly over and make the purchase. Denny gives me a quick wiring lesson.
Phase 5. I call Chevy to inquire about the cost of the bulbs. $22.00 each. Cancel that. I go across the street to Pep Boys and buy them for $8.95 each, fly over to the detail shop I work at and start installing the wiring. Small problem I am having trouble removing the headlite button. Call Denny. Help! He tells me just yank it off. I do it, cut my F finger really bad, put the new switch in, rewire my alarm(the red one) lite and hit the fog lite switch. VIOLA. "You've got lites".
For a total of $90.00 bucks I got OEM fogs and a lesson in how thirdgen.org members can help EACH OTHER. Now the front end look of my car is complete. I may never turn my headlites on again. When my new digital camera arrives Saturday I will take lot's of pics.

The camera is eVision CLEARview. It's one of those offers from aol when you first log on. Pretty nice camera. Here are some pics from it. I am loving the fogs. Now I feel like one of the big (Z28, IROC,TTA) boys.

since the lites were OEM the holes were already in the frame underneath.
lites and grill 15 minutes tops.
Used factory wiring pushed thru factory grommet to fuse box and dash pod.
15 minutes
install bulbs.
5 minutes.
remove headlite **** and replace factory fog delete pod with new pod.
10 minutes(once I figured it out with help from Denny-(LFN AT U)
Not very long project overall. And well worth it. In my opinion all 3rd gens should have fogs and TTops.

That's because YOU don't have T Tops. My woman's hair looks really good blowing in the wind on a warm summer day. And I also think the T Top cars look better. Now as far as performance then T Tops can be a hinderance. But for styling T Tops are the bomb.

"Disturb" I just turn my lites on and no problem. The headlites come right thru the blackouts. With the fogs it's even better. Sometimes I don't turn the headlites on and just use the fogs. Depends on the mood I am in. Cops don't sweat us about that. My blackouts are screwed in so no taking off everyday. We get more grief about tinted windows but I ani't taking that off either.
As far as the classicindustries grill it is for the 87/88 SC that had the spoiler. Won't work on my car.

when i bought my 86 SC i have now, it was hit in the front, and it has fog lights, with the grille slightly bent. a day later i found a parts car, an 87 LT camaro, amazingly... with fog lights too. the grille was in nice condition, and we didnt take it since we figured it needed to be painted, and it must be like a $10 easy order at a GM dealership... now that i read this im kicking myself in the *** for not taking it lol what did you mean that he had the last 2 in america? does that mean that im just lucky finding an SC with fog lights, and even luckier to find a parts car SC with them too? lol the lights and wiring on mine are shot to death, but my dad got fog lights from a nissan pathfinder that are in mint conidition, and turn out to be the same size, so we might bolt those up there... dont know yet, havent got the front end fully done yet

Yes Makaveli, you will see that the fog SC grill will be very hard to find. There just were not a lot of them originally ordered with this grill. Don't even waste your time with Chevy. Put the word out at the junkyards. The grills can be painted with a can of over the counter spray paint. We did mine in 5 minutes. And grab any OEM fog assembly's too because they are also worth money to thoise that want to keep their cars OEM in that area. I was looking for 2 years so trust me on this.
