Help, Please!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not sure if this is the right place, but it has something to do with my body, so mods, please dont close
I havent put my car away yet since i wanted to show my family at Thanksgiving. It had just started raining(hard), so I was on my way to a friends house to leave my car there and ride with him. waiting to turn east from previously heading south, theres a car coming, (its a two way so i had to stop, he didnt) so i start to go so i can get in behind him cause theres lots of cars coming behind him, but enough room for me, but he thinks im gonna hit him(thats what he said later) so i go and not fast because the tires would just spin if i went any more than like 1/3 throttle. so i start to excelerate because of the other cars coming, and all of a sudden that guy slams on his brakes and comes to a stop in the middle of the road, i hit the brakes, and after sliding for a while, boom, at about 15-20. i slid for a good long time, pumping the brakes the whole time. i got a ticket for "FAILURE TO REDUCE SPEED/ACCIDENT". but this guy stopped in the middle of the road. before you say "but if you rearend someone, its always your fault" im going to fight it, i dont care.

This wont help now, but if you ever get in a accident do what my lady friend does. Jump out of the car and just start to cry and say "look what you did to my car". She rear ended a f-150 once in her car, and did that, the guy was kinda surprised at first than he apoligised and even covered the cost of her paint tock up. Just a thought.

now im no crash investagator, but i did a little investigating. the intersection was approx. 370 ft away from the point of collision. it took my intrepid 115 ft to stop from 60 in the dry. it was wet out, but he had abs. should it take him 3x as long to slow down. theres only a 400 lb weight difference in my car compared to his. i was told in drivers ed. that it was double

That looks really similar to the damage I had on my bird. From the looks of it to (going buy the pic) I'd say the top of your radiator support is bent. The insurance estimate I had on my car was $4300. OEM parts aren't cheap (alot of estimates go by that even if they aren't using OEM parts) and rack up the total quick.
It cost me $180 to have my frame/rad support pulled back into place & fenders/hood hung/aligned.
A frame inspection would be very wise on your part IMO...

try to find a person that does work on cars as a hobby, and not as a living, you may be able to find some good deals if you properly look around. if you had a nice car, do you really wana get rid of it?

ahh.....thats not that bad! Just do it yourself if you got the know-how. Mine would of been about $4500+ to fix mine so we just went to the junkyard, found another 91 camaro, cut-welded-painted all of that for about $1700. Plus it was a really good learning expierience. It took us about 3 or 4 months to complete it but that was only working on it when we wernt busy. Try Zips Auto Body in Rochelle,IL if you want to take it somewhere. (They do great work!) GOOD LUCK!

Dude, find someone with a totaled car, that was rear ended or somthing. I'm supposedly getting the front fender, and both turn signal lights for $50 off a junked car. Just not sure if the guy is acutlaly going to call me back when he is supposed to. Sorry about the accident though, I got hit twice this weed myself.

Without reading all the posts, I'll reply. I rearended a guy about 8 years ago. He was slowing down at a green light so I flashed my lights at him. He didn't like that and slammed on his brakes. I was driving a full size extended cab 4x4, he was in a Dodge Daytona. Needless to say, I smashed his entire rear end cuz I couldn't stop fast enough. The kid thought that he was gonna take me to the cleaners because I rear ended him, but the cops sent me home (no damage to my truck) and wrote him up for causing the accident.
I would fight the ticket and explain that the reason for pulling out the way you did. Then explain that the other driver stopped dead in the midlle of the road and told you later that he thought you were gonna hit him. He was trying to be over defensive and caused the accident. You don't want to say,"i hit the brakes, and after sliding for a while, boom, at about 15-20". For you to slide for awhile and still make contact at 15-20 mph, all from a dead stop a second before, doesn't sound very promising. Good Luck

How are you gonna get it off your record? I'd fight it because you have nothing to lose already. Your story sounds legit and just like scottmoyer said...he was being over defensive. Nothing to lose and everything to gain is how I see it. Its worth a shot. Godd luck either way

hmmm, its been awhile. lets see, i took it to the shop i trusted, and the owner said no more than $4500, if it was over, theyd eat the cost. went to traffic school and met my goal of not falling asleep, so if i dont get anymore moving violations until may 15, ticket is off my record completely. anyways, i got home from school today, message on the machine, it was done:lala: . my dad and i went and picked it up and ooooooooo, it looks better then before the accident. it had been in an accident before, but not a bad one, but whoever fixed last time didnt do a very good job, not everything lined up good, the paint didnt quite match, and they didnt use gm parts. this time, paint matchs perfect, all brand new gm parts except the hood which i bought off a fellow thirdgenner for $50. they said no more than $4500, even though he showed me the reciepts and everything which totaled $52xx, and i payed $4500. so after everything, i walk away with an extra $1k, and a car thats alot better, its resale value may have went down, but i dont have any plans on selling the car. pic:
