It will work! You need to buy the style that is the shape of a "Y" for the shoulder straps and mount it to the floor with a nice bug washer on either side. I will see if I can get some pics of mine in my MOnte SS for you.

Not tough at all. Just make sure you aren't drilling into anything important. I used a 1/2 " drill bit and some brand new nut.bolts and washers. Took me all of 15 minutes tops!

just a fair bit of warning, but you really dont want to install the shoulder harnesses as shown in the picture (no offense Cruzin Kaz). You don't want the mounting point any more than 45* below horizontal. I've heard that in accidents it can do a bit of damage, like cause compression of the spine. I know it is a pain to find a way to mount the shoulder straps, but try your best to get them as horizontal as possible... I know they make 75" (?) harnesses that should be able to reach from the rear hump.

My is just temporary till my cage is installed. I wouldn't set it up my way to leave it for good. Just for the time being. Just have to hope not to get into a accident.

Yeah, I'm thinking about adding a 6 point harness in my car. I don't have a bar yet, but I plan on it in the future. I was thinking about mounting the shoulder straps in the hatch area. I was mainly just bored on ebay one day and came across a used simpson 6 point harness and I got it for about 60 bucks so I figured I might as well play around with it. Hopefully it has long enough straps.

New design type. I read somewhere that nascar just made them legal to run 5 or 6 points. Instead of one sub belt you have two seperate belts.

Yep pretty much don't know if it's safer or not. I know I'll feel a little safer without that thick sub belt going right between my legs if I got to hit the skids hard.

Now the question is to see if Simpson 6 point harnesses are street legal in IL. I figured I'll test mount it first to make sure it fits right then I'll give the state trooper headquarter a phone call. I love calling in and asking them all kind of weird questions. One time I called in to see if it's legal to run a laptop mounted in passenger seat turned on like the troopers do. They said it was, but they didn't recommend it. Not that I really wanted to, just wondering if I ever got a cable hook up to read prom on a laptop if I could drive down the road with it on... hehe

Well I got my harness today. Turns out formula style is only like 39 inch long shoulder straps so I'm about 10 inches short to making the mount behind rear seats. I thought about making a chain type linkage to connect the harness on it. I finally decided I'll just get a 8 pt roll bar and put it in. Then I can just weld some mounts right on it and bolt it right up like it's suppose to be. Also I called IL State Troopers Div. talked to a officer there he said he pulled books and there's nothing against running a racing harness on the street and it will be legal.
