Are 4th gen seats as comfortable as Sparco or Recaro seats?

I just wanted to know how much comfortable 4thgen seats are compared to stock 3rdgen ones. I like the look and feel of Sparco seats, but they are expensive. If 4thgen seats are as comfortable, then I will get those since they are cheaper.

I've never been in a 4th gen so i wouldn't know. I would like to though before i go out and buy $600 in seats! I just like to look of the "racing" seats better, but comfort is what counts!

I need to replace my seats becuase they are not comfortable and offer no support for my back. I was planning on getting some Corbeau or Sparco seats since they have extra supports. I have been in those kind of seats and they feel great, I just can't afford
$900 for a pair of seats right now. I want new seats as soon as possible. 4th gen seats look like they have the same support and comfort as the racing style seats, but they are much cheaper and I could get those now. I only want to get 4th gen seats if they off the same support and comfort as the more expensive racing seats.

I have a pair of colour matching Corbeau Forza seats for mine. For a purely asthetic point of view, they look awesome. They are fixed as I don't need access to the back (no seats!!!).For a comfort point of view, they are a lot better than the 3rd gen seats(20 years old!!!).I don't know whether you would want to do a lot of miles in them as they are quite upright.I do no more than 3000 miles a year (UK petrol price is sadistic).

To me the fourth gen seats are comfortable, but no where near as comfortable and give you the side support of a Corbeau or Sparco which are the two most comfortable seats I sat in when looking for new ones for my car. I settled on the Corbeau's and they hold you tight. The only two things with these seat is if your any kind of a big person you will want to get the extra wide version which is like a $40 option. They fit me perfectly and I'm average sized, but I could see how a few to many cheeseburgers could make them hard to fit into. The second thing is the brakets that come with them raise you up about an inch, not really an issue unless your 6'4 plus I would think.

Great, thanks. That is the answer I was looking for. I am 5' 6" and sit fairly low in my Bird so the seats sound perfect for me. I need the adjustable ones, not the fixed ones because I need access to my rear seats when I put groceries back there. I guess I will just have to wear out my current seats until I can afford to get both seats. I spend a lot of hours in my car when I travel because I don't drive fast so the most comfortable seat is a must.

I ride in 4th gen TAs all the time. The LS1 WS6 seats are by far the most comfortable. Great support all around. Next I'd pic the LT1 seats with the adjustable headrest (kinda like GTA seats). I'm not a fan of the 4th gen camaro seats, feel really thin to me.

another option is to just buy the driver's seat. Even Chevy did this in 82-84 with the conteur seat option. The driver's seat was fully adjustable, the pass seat was just a seat.

I would do that, but I like things to match. I wouldn't be able to stand it too long if one seat was a nice Sparco or Recaro racing style seat and the passenger seat was my crappy stock, torn, faded red seat.

had crappy 3rd gen RS seats
tried 4th gen ones
ended up getting recaro,s with lumbar pump installed for both driver and passenger
best thing i ever did ,only one problem with the recaro,s is no mount point for the seat belt guide

If I had Recaros, I think I could live with no belt holder. I think I might just duct tape some cushoning to the sides, back, and seat and putting my seat covers over them, until I can afford a pair of decent seats. My back hurts after 3-4 hours of driving with no back support. I might as well be sitting on those fixed blue seats they have at school because that's how comfortable they are after 4 hours. I like to take my time getting to places so comfort is a big issue for me. I guess I should check out ebay to find a good deal. I want new seats soooooooo baaaaaaaad!!!!!!!! I can't stand it. It's hard to justify the expense since I still need an engine rebuild and new paint first.

I just went for a ride the other night in a brand new 2002 Z28 vert and the seats are nothing to write home about, the 97 firebird seats in my car are much more comfy...I think the 4th gen camaros did get the shaft on seats, the firebird & T/A seats seem much more comfy, I think that may have been true even with 3rd gens, Pontiacs got PMD and Recaro's as an option, and camaros didnt (except maybe one year I think)

If you go with 4th gen seats, get them out of a Firebird...any of the stock Firebird seats are better than the crap seats they put in the Camaros. The ones in my SS are very uncomfortable, esp on long trips. You would think an SS would come with the best seats GM had for an F-body.

After reading the posts, I going to save up and buy some Corbeaus or Sparcos, unless I can find some good condition Reccaros - do they still make new seats?

depends on your weight as well, if you weigh 9 stone wringing wet then the sparco's might be a bit firm, they would be an improvment on stock though, but against 4th gen seats, prob comes down to preferance on style and the fact that fourth gen seats bolt right in without mods.

I agree, UK petrol price is sadistic, try doing 15 000 miles per year! I do in my 305 sport coupe! (costs about £150 - 200 / $250 - 300 ish, per month)

For me at 6'3" 220lbs the stock seats are a good fit, I've got elbow room, the stock power seat track moves far enough back, and my head doesnt hit the roof unless I wear a hat there is no way I could have the seat sit an inch higher though.

Is there a good way to make the stock seats more comfortable until I get the new Sparcos?

other than having them refurbished? no not really, I mean you could get one of those lumbar support cushions and stap to the seat under a seat cover, can't really think of much else besides that. You could try and get the 4th gen T/A seats with the inflatable lumbar supports, my base Firebird seats are a distinct improvement over the original ones.
