Help with waxes
Guys,
My Girlfriend is the owner of a black 2002 Camaro Z/28, and she has asked me to help her take care of the paint when we are both out of school for the semester. My question concerns waxing the car. Should I wax it, and if so, what brand do you guys suggest. I really don't want any swirl marks, or other eyesores. I appreciate any help you guys can lend.

Black, I think, is the worst colour for showing up swirl marks. So you need a decent "filler" wax to cover in the swirls. It would seem to be anything that is, or contains high volumes of, carnuba wax.

* rubs crystal ball* I see in the future for you many posts praising formula 113. I personally use mothers..and the stuff works awsome..use some eagle 1 wet shine for the tires and she'll be happy with it. And happy girls make you happy soooo....

i prefer the turtle wax "extreme cleaner wax" for the first step then on to the mother's polish wax, and finally finish it with some nice carnuba wax. Of course there's always a clay bar in the beginning if need be. All my vehicles are black, they're a pain to keep looking good, but when they're clean nothing looks better.

Had a black 454 SS a few years ago, used Zymol carbon paste wax on it. Expensive, about 48 bucks for a 8 oz jar, but the results were great.

Thanks for the info
I really appreciate all the quick responses that I am getting. Please keep it up. Is there any tips out there about how to avoid swirl marks, and crap like that. I really want this to turn out good. I personally use McGuire's Gold Class Wax, and love the results on my Red '87 Z28, but I just want to make sure that I don't put swirls in a brand new car.
