leather door panels??
hey..I installed 4th gen leather camaro seats about 6 months ago and have been mulling over the idea of exchanging the cloth on the door panel with leather matching the seats and leaving the lower carpet portion. Has anyone done this or have other similar ideas [without having to install 4th gen panels]?

I think REPEAT!! "I Think" starting in about 1989 when the Firebirds when to the "newer" style flat door panels that used the door handle trim piece from the earlier molded door panel and you got the Leather interior they actually started to put leather inserts into the door panels.
I remeber seeing a Green 92 GTA that had the neutral (brown)interior I seem to remember seeing that it had leather inserts on the doors...
could be wrong tho...

nice interiors guys
Very nice....I'm kind of stuck with the camaro door panel:: I love the molded firbird door panels. That leather looks really good there. You've all seen the camaro door panel where there is a little 1in wide trim strip that separates the fabric from the carpet. I'm wondering how well it would look to have nice leather juxtaposed to that crappy pile carpet and separated by that little trim piece.
I've thought about doing the whole panel in leather, but I don't think it would good. I would look "too much" if you know what I mean. So I'm trying to scheme up a plan to have leather on the upper portion (where the cloth is) and try to replace the carpet with something else, but I don't know what.
ANy ideas?

on my door panels you really cant tell there all leather, until I tell you OR you feel them... I would have been satisfied with vinyl, but the interior guy hated vinyl, and did them in leather...
sorry for the little arrow just above the map pocket, that was there for some other thread last year...

Wow...I gotta tell you, I like the custom doors you did. That looks nice. Hmm...I'm having some ideas. Would be really cool to draw a horizontal line straight across the door. The area above the door handle in dark greay leather to match my seats, with "Camaro Z28" embroidered into it. The area below the door handle with black carpet. And get rid of that silly trim piece.

whats interesting, is the gray that you see there is charcoal, but when I take pictures of it it turns out ligher than it does in person...
I dunno, it might be the way the texture of the Leather reflects the light... I do know the gray leather is a lesser "car" grade of leather whereas the black is all "Aircraft rated" (has to meet certain burn criteria)...

true....my best friend and I each used to own a 4th gen TA. I had black leather in mine and he had light grey. There was a huge difference in softness and feel. But I don't know whether to call mine dark grey or charcoal. Its a toss up. They are from a 96 camaro; so I'm not sure if their stock color option is "dark grey" or "charcoal". Did they offer both that year? If not, then there is a sure way to find out which one I have.
Well whatever colors you've got in there, it certainly is working
