Driver's side seat very loose. Why??
For some reason, my '89 IROC-Z's driver side seat is lose. I've tried tightening the bolts but I either can't get to them or they are already tight. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? The passenger seat is nice and tight. I'm wondering if there is something wrong within the seat back or on the mounts on the track (power seats.) It isn't so bad that it makes it unsafe or uncomfortable to drive but it's just kinda annoying. Help would be much apreciated. -89IRO

its the power seat track, mine does the same thing. I know that mine is bolted up tight, cause I just changed new seats onto the original seat tracks....one of these days it will annoy me bad enought to take it off and try and fix it.

On mine it was the seat track broke in two. Take the seat out and have it welded back together. Cost me $3.00 to have welded back together. To get to the bolts simply move the seat back to get to the front bolts and all the way forward fopr the rear. There are plastic trim caps over the bolts held down by one screw.

I had my GTA seats out (non powered) and found that the front elevation adjustment was missing a rivit that looked kind of chintzy on the other side, I replaced it with a bolt and nut. My problem is I also had a missing seat bolt so the seat was extra floppy and both problems got fixed before the seat went back in so I have no idea how loose that missing elev bolt would make it.

Speaking of seats.. how far are the seats supposed to move forward/back
The driver side on my 87 seems to only move like an inch...
havn't tried passenger side, yet.
might just need WD-40
just wanted to make sure, though

They slide a pretty good ways, I am estimating here but when the seat is in the even position (default where the seat rails line evenly up with the track rails) it should move forward about 6 inches and from the same position it should move backwards about 6 inches or so. I think I may be fairly conservative on those numbers but I am a short guy so I am only concerned with how far forward it moves. When I had mine out I went over them real good with some Zepp (WD-40 type stuff) and found a lot of junk lodged all over the place in all the rails, springs and tracks. You might want to pull it off and look for some blockage in there. Its amazing how much junk collects under the seats!
Hope this helps.
