I just got a roof console and auto dimming rearview mirror from an 87 GTA and i couldn't find anything on how to hook up the rearview mirror. I had the guy get all the wiring for them down to the dash. he didn't have to cut it, it just unhooked under the dash. I read the tech article on hooking up the roof console, but with the mirror, i haven't found anything on here about how it's supposed to hook up. Has anybody else hooked one up with any success? any help would be appreciated.

what kind of wires (color) came with the mirror, I have one with a digital compass in my car it came with 2 extra wires i had to run, one was just a ground and then the "hot" wire I ran down to my fuse box so it what turn on with the ignition.

the wires for the rearview mirror and the roof console are all bundled together. For the mirror, there's a short black ground wire that just screws to the pillar and then there is a red wire with a green stripe and a green wire. Same for the roof console wiring except it's got an orange and a white wire and the 2 wires are on one connector and the connectors for the mirror are separate.

One of the wires on the mirror is ground, the other a switched +12V source, and the other tied to the backup light wire. Most of the general motors products of the era used light green for the backup lamps, and black for ground.

So I just get a wiring diagram and find my reverse lights and splice the green wire into them?
