Try to get the old one out in 1 piece. Picking 3,000 pieces of broken glass out of the heater box and around the windshield frame sucks. They make specific tools that aren't too expensive. It's sort of like an L shaped hook with a handle so that you can pull it around while keeping it vertical. I would imagine that any decent auto parts store would have it. They make heated ones, and all sorts of other fancy crap, and some people use piano wire, but I've always had the best luck with the simple L shaped hook.

Putting the new one in is pretty easy. The new windshield goop comes in a caulk tube. Go all the way around, and have a buddy help you set the glass into place. Wiggle it side to side a little bit while pressing down and it'll adhere to the goop. Make sure it's centered well, then install the windshield molding. Let it set for a little while (couple hours) before you drive it.
