headliner problem

All automotive storesstock 3m spray to fix this but first you would
have to remove the headliner and lay it out to do this and let it dry or settle first before putting back in car or buy the spray and headliner fabric material to cover the headliner itself or go to junk yard and find a used one in good condition if possible!

You can just get it re-covered for $100 or less......

It would put a quick end to your problem.....

Should probably buy new fabric. The fabric is foam-backed, and with heat & time (32,000 miles doesn't matter, your car's old time-wise), the foam disintegrates. This leaves a coating of foam on the headliner board, and a coating of foam on the back of the fabric! So it's not the glue that's let loose on your car, the foam basically split in two. You gotta remove the old foam from the board and use NEW fabric.

There's a tech article from the thirdgen.org tech section, or, just click here to do a ; search for headliner, and make sure to choose this body & interior forum.

that one plus on having t-tops the headliner cant sag that far down, and only gets to the point of moving around a tad from the wind hitting it...

the quickest fix i did on my moms 1986 firebird was just tuck the headliner fabric (pulled it taught) and then some tacks along the whole rear side and then i put the plastic rear trim back on..

i've tried 3M and the headliner glue from GM.....nothing worked, new liner with foam backing is the way to go......

Just finished doing my RS, easier than I thought. Except for the messy glass fibre repairs I needed to do near the seat belt holes.

Damn I don't know why the full link isn't working , but after you get to the home page ,click on the tech link on the left side ,then click on Firebird First Aid Part II. There is other info in the to help cure minor problems found in many firebirds and camaros

That is a great tech article. That should be a sticky on this board without a doubt. (Along with "replacing worn out seatbelt retractors", "replacing faded carpet", and "replacing worn seat covers")

I just finished my headliner yesterday, and took some very similar photos as those shown in the website article.

I have a 1991 Z28.....my headliner was sagging and I just had it all redone for only $100.00. I also had the sailpanels done free of charge. It looks fantastic!
