Hatch Pull Down motor interchangablility?
Subject says it all. I have a '92 Camaro and the pulldown motor doesnt work. Needless to say, the pulldown motors are so hard to find, and the ones that I can find are expensive. So, what would it take to get one from a different year in? The plastic piece and something in the motor is broken on mine, so fixing it isnt really an option.

I think the original 82-86 (NON PULLDOWN) might acually work, I had a 1992, sold it, but the bolt pattern looked to be really close to my 83's latch...
I dunno for sure, but its a possiblity...

If you find you need help, e-mail me. I stock all the parts needed to repair the 1986-91 (pre vin#173202) hatch pull-down units. I also have rebuilt units with a 6-month warranty and re-manufactured units with a full 12-month warranty. Both 1986-87 & 1988-91 (pre vin #173202) units are available.

Hey Lon, I saw on ebay a guy selling a pulldown motor for the '92 Camaros that he said he pulled off a '93 to '95 bird. Any idea if these really are the same assemblies and if the wiring is the same? From the picture he had they looked the same, no diffrences that I could tell, but his didnt have the wiring harness, just the bare wires.

I have no clue. I do know that they eliminated the pull-down, going strictly with a slam latch. If you find out let me know.
DMC, Thanks for the link to the AUS site selling the hatch repair items. I finally get to see pictures of the hatch guides made by my long rumored AUS competition. I see that after conversion from AUD to USD their prices are: 75% higher for their guides compared to mine, 41% higher for their new GM un-reinforced motor housing compared to my reinforced version, 82% higher for the GM gear nut, and 128% higher for the GM reversing switch. Nice to see how I stack up with the competition.

damn thats heaps... do you have a web site that shows your products and the costs etc...
I know much of the extra cost you mentioned is due to Australian Government import tax's & DUties on everyting.. its a nice country just they tax the crap out of you.... are your costs compared then including delivery into Australia or overseas & + the tax;s etc. or just over the counter at your joint ect.
what else do you have and whats your business's name.?? how do we contact you. do you have a secured server etc to order from.???

I have a web site that I THOUGHT was ready to go. I contacted the company I want to host it and discovered I can't transfer it to their site. I'd have to build it from scratch using their templates. The attractive part of their hosting it is the certificate, 10-pg. web site, credit card processing service, web page building templates, Dunn & Bradstreet listing, and registering it with the top search directories was all included in the monthly fee. Now I have to decide if I want to change horses (again) in the middle of the stream or find another host, pay separatly for the SSL certificate, credit card handling ect. I'm really bummed, because I JUST went through this. I had my web page ready to go and discovered the shopping cart had bugs. The software had no support (no response to the e-mails) and hadn't been revised for a while. I thought that switching to the new software we found was a good thing, since it has a lot more capability, good tech support, programmers that are working actively to improve it and fix any bugs. Now I hit a brick wall again.
So, long story short. No web site up yet. You can contact me by e-mail: topdownsolutions@yahoo.com. I have a Price List that I've been e-mailing out to customers. That is getting to be a problem since my product line has grown to 6 full pages, 35 items currently from just 9 items back in May. The PL is now just over 1Mb. I'll have to break it up based on a customers area of interest. 14 items covering 3 pages JUST for the hatch pull-down repair items.

web problems
I can relate to the web problems... they can be a pain.. like YOU and most all of us are car guys not limp wristed computor programmers etc... and the scamms that go on to entice you into a "Cheapest Web Sites in Town" are usually full of small print... .. often makes it hard just to be a bit more of a go getter etc.. helpfull etc.. Truth is the web can be a Major PITA...
... Could you email me some of the parts you have for the hatch motors please.
thanks.

Ok, I won the auction for the 92 to 96 pulldown assembly, should be here sometime next week I hope. The picture he gave was exactly the same as what mine looked like. I have yet to verify what car it came off though. Lon shoot me an email(stiec@loras.edu) if you want the old pulldown assembly and we can work something out. The plastic is cracked on mine, and i have no idea why it doesnt work, I plugged it in and it did nothing.
