Weight of Back seats?
Ok i am bored and am considering takeing out the back seats in my 91 rs to gain some room and loose some weight. Since i need my seat all the way back no one can sit there anyway so thats not an issue. So how much do they weigh approximently? They are split bench's if that matters.

My seats don't seem to weigh much at all so I don't think it'd make too much difference. Though I dunno if it varies by year or whatever.

The seats aren't excessive but have you thought about the weight of the rear seatbelt assemblies.I removed mine and were surprised at how much they weigh(and the front ones come to think of it).

if you want to save weight swap out a power drivers seat for a non power. the motor in those things are REAL heavy.

You see this same post ever few weeks and if you knew anything about performance. You would know that you want more weight in the back than the front. leave the seat alone.
move your batt. to your trunk or anything else you can do to lose weight in the front and move it to the back.
what you want is a 49/51 ratio, meaning 51% of the cars weight in the back.
why trucks are not really that fast, they got no weight back there and all they do is spin the tires. you want all the weight you can get in the back over the wheel.

My split back seats were 28 pounds on my scale. The bottoms are basically all foam, most of the weight is in the backs.

At the end of the day weight is weight, and it doesn't matter whether its in the front or back.Once it's out, the car will benefit.Weight loss shouldn't be confused with weight distribution.
By the way I've had my arms and legs stretched so I can sit in the trunk and drive for better weight distribution.

BS if you remove too much weight from the rear of the car, all you would do is sit and spin. its does no good losing wieght in the wrong area, you may think it does but it dont.

I don't think I need any advice from someone who thinks a roll cage comes in one piece.I'm not disputing the fact that you need weight over the back wheel but that is more of a drag race point of view.Taking out a few pounds here and there isn't bull**** and besides if you'd bothered to read my sig you would realise that the cage (Welded IN car) would put back the weight I took out. Also the 9" rearend I'll be putting in will add more than enough weight to the back end. Before you start telling people their talking Bull****,you want to know what your on about yourself.I suppose I'd better ring up those manufacturers of aluminium wheels, calipers and 9" centre sections etc.etc. and tell them they're doing it all wrong and they should be making the parts from lead.At the end of the day if you lose 100lbs from the front, why can't you lose some from the rear.By the way lets see your awesome sig,you race car designer you.

How do you get theses stupid seats out anyway? I don't really care much about the weight savings but I need room to cart around two bass guitars in cases and a 15" combo amp so I need all the room I can get. The bottom star? bolts are basically frozen in place and the thing that guides the belt to the shoulder of the back part is the same way. Any hints or help besides cutting them off?

Just simply remove all the bolts.......
The seat belt guides will have to be cut off......be careful they are metal on the inside though..........
That's how i did it.....

I've got an Idea...
Let's all have a big fight over it...
Got ya, didn't I? Admit it, you thought I was gonna say it...
